Recession Buster July 2010

The Image Academy & Personal Stylist have come together to deliver
workshops around Ireland to support and stimulate the Image & Fashion
industry during the recession.

There’s no doubt that technology and social media have transformed the retail landscape. Exactly how we survived without every, single product in the world available with just a click of a button we may
never know. More than that, e-commerce sites and social media marketing tools such as Facebook
and Twitter are quickly becoming essential for reaching out to new and old retail customers.

But even with all these massive changes, we can’t help but wonder what’s around

Designers, when something goes wrong in the workroom and let’s be honest here; you usually hang the blame on your sewing-machine operators. The idea that these essential garment workers refuse to alter their practices to suit the job at hand is as old as Italian lace.

An article on Fashion Incubator, however, suggests that the problems on the sewing-room floor aren’t necessarily the fault of the operators. Rather, it may be an issue of communication. Despite the monotonous prod

What takes your breath away more then a failed quality test? I must tell you, it is really a horrible feeling. As designers or product development personnel, we strive to design a fabulous collection. After the design phase is complete, we proceed to obtain orders from our fine retail accounts. As soon as we have orders in hand, we proceed diligently thru the process of lab dips, strike offs, fit review etc. Not a stone is left unturned as we glide thru the management of the production process.

MFG.com: The Fashion World Is Not Ready

It sounds like such a great idea, doesn't it? Sourcing made simple via the internet. A site that connects designers and manufacturers using spec sheets and a formal bidding process. No more phone calls, faxes, or sending samples just to get a bid.

OK, I understand that this is not a very good explanation. It is very possible that if you are not familiar with a fashion gadget, you most likely are also not familiar with a fashion widget.
