Long Live McQueen!

FROM: http://rantnandraven.blogspot.com
As London Fashion Week begins, I can't help but reflect on the absence of a designer who made such a statement in industry that he will be ever-revered and undeniably-missed.

PUBLISHED JAN. 10, 2010 ON THEPATPRESS.COM

There is a fine line between genius and insanity, and it is one that British designer, Alexander McQueen, tight rope walks every season in the fashion industry.

With concepts conjured up from the corners of a mind that most people would find abs

Love Letters

I've never been a fan of long-distance relationships...

Especially when that distance is 1,000 miles between me and fashion. As a Floridian, New York Fashion Week is a distant dream. While I'm down here at work or at school, thousands of fashion fans and MVPs are basking in the resplendence of the runways; some of them even friends of mine! And through them (and TWITTER) I've been living vicariously, waiting with baited breath for the next update.

Pamela Love: Easy To Fall In Love With

Pamela Love.First of all, what a beautiful name. And if you aren't attracted to the easiness of how it rolls off of your tongue when you say it, you will definitely fall in love with her collection. I was first captivated by her new pewter handbags- they are truly different and add a new dimension to the word. They are crafted completely out of metal and distressed, giving it an ancient, vintage look. These bags are extremely exclusive, and can be purchased from a limited collection for $3,000.0

Will an Eco-Fashionista Win Project Runway Again?

The eighth season of Project Runway has just gotten underway. Making some waves this go around is Gretchen Jones, a green clothing designer from Portland, Oregon.

You may recall that back in season five, eco-fashionista Leanne Marshall was crowned queen of the catwalk. After the show, Leanne has continued to work as a eco-fashion designers. From what we could find, Leanne's making handmade dresses and selling them on
Etsy, but her garments haven't exactly changed the fashion world.

London Fashion Week 2009 | Image via Flikr/Swamibu

If you’re anything like us, you associate the early part of September with the madness of New York Fashion Week. Oh, but September is so much much than that fast-paced, magazine editor and celeb filled event that takes up just over one week out of the month. But just over the pond, there’s another– and some would argue better– runway explosion: London Fashion Week. And, wouldn’t you know it, LFW’s schedule just debuted.

Fashion houses are reaching out—far, far out—to clients, and the extra effort is paying off in couture sales. WWD recently discussed the high—and widespread— demand for couture, and we found their tactics to be…well, really interesting. Forget your prototypical snobby reputation of the high-end fashion world—because these houses are going miles (literally) for their clients.

For the next few months, New York City’s Midtown will have a few new residents on its sidewalk– 32 to be exact. The Fashion Center’s Sidewalk Catwalk opened just yesterday featuring 32 mannequins decorated by some of city’s top fashion designers including Diane von Furstenberg, Betsey Johnson, Badgley Mischka, Thom Browne, Jason Wu, and many more. We took a trip to the heart of the Garment District to visit New York City’s latest public art exhibition, which extends from Herald Square to 42nd St
