At first glance yes I truly was hoping that this black skirt was indeed Chanel but not to worry because Milly will do just fine.  This skirt just really has all the bells and whistles of a Chanel skirt especially with that gold chain but again I’m alright with Milly.  This top byMarc by Marc Jacobs and this skirt by Milly is just every contemporary and fresh and yes they came out from the same thrift store which makes it so easy.  What I do is shop at several thrift stores everyday hunting for l

Black is the new Black haven’t you heard?  Love both of these items but what I really love is the fact that I found a brand new still with tags Moschino skirt in a frigging thrift store.  It’s of course a size 4 USA which really means it’s a size 2 because of the crazy sizing we have today but that didn’t stop me from grabbing it.  I love love love the long ass slit on this black Moschino skirt, it’s so SEXYYYYYY (meow) and what woman doesn’t want to look & feel sexy?  I can’t think of anyone th

Finding Dries Van Noten in a thrift store is like finding a box of Godiva chocolates inside a 5 & Dime candy store…. or like winning the fashion lottery.  I LOOOVEEEEEE Dries Van Noten… He is one of my favorite Belgian fashion designers because in my opinion Belgian designers are a little ahead of the curb when it comes to thinking outside the box.  Dries Van Noten has become a designer from whom you can expect the unexpected association.  He is the master of nothing ever being quite what it see

Isn’t this Donna Morgan for Sak’s Fifth Avenue vintage 80′s dress HOT?  I mean like reallyHOT…  It reminded me of a Mondrian painting that’s why I grabbed it, well that and because it looks so frigging HOT… I really don’t know anything about Donna Morgan, I see her stuff all the time in thrift stores and walk right on by like Dionne Warwick would do…  I love that this Donna Morgan Mondrian’ish dress has only one pocket on the side, now that’s just HOT…  So after falling in love with the mod dres

I tell you it’s very hard for me to pass on buying Halston when I’m at any thrift store.  I found this 2 piece dress with matching jacket, in the coolest of cool color, Halston from the 80′s and couldn’t refuse.  When I search 1stdibs.com website for Halston they range in price from $600-4,500, he’s American Fashion Royalty so why would you expect less from this brand?  You know by 1972 he had already received his 4th COTY Award?  That’s just amazing to me and as time marching on I promise you I

Estevez black tuxedo black dress….

I found this black tuxedo black dress by Estevez for Sak’s Fifth Avenue in the thrift store so if I were to die today my life was complete.  I have longed to find anything from Estevez but to find something this grand from Estevez I was speechless for hours and believe me that’s a rare event.  Luis Estevez was born to a wealthy family, descended from royalty, in Cuba in 1928.  He landed an internship at Lord & Taylor in NYC, he then moved to Paris where he was an assistant to Jean Patou.  When L

My only regret about this Turnbull & Asser blouse is that it’s not a man’s shirt…. I know I have tons of Turnbull & Asser shirts hanging in my closet but I never ever pass on the opportunity to own another but maybe next time.  This is a classic Turnbull & Asserwomen’s striped blouse made with Sea Island Quality Cotton which means only the very best.  Sea Island Cotton is more desirable cotton with a higher thread count and expensive.  This blouse retailed for $300-320.  Turnbull & Asser was est

I just couldn’t believe my luck, I mean I’ve never found a Vicky Tiel gown in a thrift store before.  Vicky Tiel’s creations typically don’t end up at a thrift store because they arehighly collectible and sought after for museum collections.  So when I saw this deep red jersey dress hanging on the rack I first eyed the construction of it and thought to myself “this looks gorgeous ” so I checked the label and I had to do a DOUBLETAKE.  In the 60′s Vicky Tiel was the “IT” girl, designing items tha

If I had to guess I would say that this Milly skirt was brand new when I salvaged it from the thrift store.  Yes brand new items end up in thrift stores daily, it’s all about timing.  I love this E + J plaid short sleeve top that has a dart on the backside, that simple dart just completely elevating this top.  E+J is a very modern lifestyle brand, designers Ashely Olsen & Mary-Kate Olsen narrow the gap between designer & contemporary fashion. Milly is designed by Michelle Smith who has worked at

I found both of these dresses back to back and they both have pockets which tells me that the GODS wanted me to blog about how important pockets are in dresses.  I tell all my clients “I think all dresses should have pockets….. it should be mandatory”… same for skirts!  Having pockets on dresses just makes like so much more comfortable because you can keep your cell phone in side the pocket, your keys or that trick card that man you were flirting with just gave you…  Or you can simply keep your

I will never pass on not buying Halston and most definitely not pass on buying Halston III.  Halston III was debuted in stores in 1983 for JCPenny, it was the first truly masstige (is a marketing term meaning downward brand extension) fashion line, a mass market fashion line developed by an extremely high brow fashion designer, was born.  Remember the Halston brand was an elite brand that was sold at Bergdorf Goodman and when he introduced the Halston III into JCPenny stores like Bergdorf Goodma

I love my balls, let me rephrase  that “I love my cedar balls”…. I’ll tell you why in a second.  I found this gorgeous Pringle of Scotland cashmere sweater in the thrift store that was priced at $3.99 but it was half off day so I got it for a whopping $2.00 and judging from the label it’s probably from the 50′s.  This sweater has no moth holes and given the age that’s a miracle in itself…  The reason there were no holes in the sweater is because when I picked it up it reeked of that moth ball sm

I found this Jean-Louis Scherrer navy silk dress that still had the sales tag on it from the 90′s.  The original retail price for this dress was $825.00 and then it was marked down to $119.99 and I grabbed it for a whopping $3.00 so yes it does pay to shop “green” now doesn’t it my little angels out there…  In the 50′s Jean-Louis Scherrer worked at the House of Dior alongside Yves Saint Laurent.  It was at Dior that he perfected his cutting and draping skills.  In 1957, Scherrer left Dior when Y

Vintage is the word for today.  In fact vintage is the word for today, tomorrow and the next millennium.  Recently  2 women came into my boutique Doubletake Recycled Luxury and said “oh we love vintage it’s so IN today”…. I just stood there and looked at them and as politely as possible said “you’re f*#%ing kidding me???”  No I didn’t say that to them but you know I wanted to…  When I hear such malarkey it just sends me over the edge because vintage has never been IN – it is always IN….  This bl

I always say if you are wearing Calvin Klein make sure it’s either vintage or Calvin Klein Collection – made in Italy….  I found the Calvin Klein Collection skirt first and got so excited, because the Collection label is the good shit….  I continued shopping when all of a sudden I came across the matching Calvin Klein Collection jacket same size as the skirt…  So when you are thrifting and find a fabulous skirt or slacks always make sure you look in the jacket section because 9 out of 10 times t

Yves Saint Laurent mens shirt for ME…..

When I saw the label and size of this YvesSaintLaurent mens shirt I thought I had won the damn lottery.  This shirt fits me like an Hermes glove, I mean to perfection and I love that.  I love spending $2.50 on a YSL shirt that fits like it was custom tailored for my body.  If there is one label I am absolutely infatuated with it would be YSL.  I know this is a vintage item so it was designed under the reins of Yves Saint Laurent himself and to me that’s just magic.  Finding vintage luxury is lik

Moschino Life sporty dress….

I think if you are looking for a sporty dress it might as well be from Moschino.  I about killed over when I saw this label because I will NEVER pass on pillaging Moschino from a thrift store, NEVER….  Founded in 1983 by Franco Moschino, the inimitable Italian label’s motto was “fashion should be FUN and should send a message”.  After Moschino’s death in 1994, his protege Rossella Jardini took the helm, and her whimsical collection are a testament to the designer’s unique, often eccentric vision

Dior silk blouse with Max Mara linen skirt…

I don’t know about you but I love seeing women in long skirts especially beautifully designed skirts…  Something about them that makes women look regal & sophisticated and this linen Max Mara skirt with pockets does just that.  This Max Mara skirt popped right out of the thrift store and I have no idea when it was originally designed but who gives a rat @#* about that because at the end of the day it passes the timeless test with me.  I also love any shade of pink  because I just believe every w

Ok you know I just found a Loro Piana 2 piece suit so I went back to that thrift store and would you believe I found another Loro Piana piece????  Finding 1 Loro Piana is amazing to begin with but finding 2 Loro Piana and that’s on par with winning the lottery…  I loved finding this vintage 80′s Gloria Sachs cashmere sweater for Neiman Marcus, that’s just so R$CH isn’t it?  I never pass on the opportunity to salvage anything by Gloria Sachs while I’m out thrifting, it would be a sin!  I just can
