Estevez black tuxedo black dress….

I found this black tuxedo black dress by Estevez for Sak’s Fifth Avenue in the thrift store so if I were to die today my life was complete.  I have longed to find anything from Estevez but to find something this grand from Estevez I was speechless for hours and believe me that’s a rare event.  Luis Estevez was born to a wealthy family, descended from royalty, in Cuba in 1928.  He landed an internship at Lord & Taylor in NYC, he then moved to Paris where he was an assistant to Jean Patou.  When Luis married Hubert de Givenchy was his best man.  Estevez was once one of the most revered & popular designers in the world.  He was the first to win the prestigious Coty award at the age of 26, diversify his brand into furs, accessories and home goods and sell couture at retail prices.  In 1962 one of Estevez’s former PR girls, Eleanor Lambert, founded the Council of the Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and invited Estevez to be a founding member.  Now, in the council’s 50th year, Estevez and former designer Arnold Scassi are the only original living members.  Diane von Furstenberg, a friend and the current CFDA President, attributes Estevez’s sensibility to his heritage:”Luis has all the qualities of a Latin man, he understands women and their sensuality.”  Estevez is one of fashion’s forgotten GODS and this black tuxedo dress is not only collectible it’s just TIMELESS.  Keep it “green” my friends by recycling, reusing & reducing anything and everything…. I’m your luxury curator!
