Carolyne Roehm vintage black velvet dress…..

You know I never pass on the chance to save / collect / a vintage Carolyne Roehm piece.  I’m a big fan of this ladies brief work as a fashion designer in NYC.  She is one of this country’s trendsetters in fashion.  For 10 years she worked as Oscar de la Renta’s house model and then in 1984 she started her own fashion house.  It was an instant success!  Carolyne Roehm’s pieces are considered very collectible and very desirable all with good reason.  Just look at the photo of the inside label and

When I saw the actual label on this jacket, I almost chocked on my Tic Tac!  I know you would have done the exact same thing.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE finding vintage Thierry Mugler, I wish I could say that I find vintage Mugler every damn day but sadly I just don’t.  It’s a real treat to find this label because I consider him one of the finest French fashion designers EVER.  He was so futuristic and you see that with the details on this jacket.  It’s very Jetsons – space age !  If I could squeeze my a

I’m really and truly in love with Pauline Trigere.  Really and I can’t help myself nor do I want to help myself.  This orange / red dress by Pauline Trigere from Bergdorf Goodman is on fire just like a good drag queen or hemorrhoids!  Pauline Trigere was America’s Coco Chanel and often better!  Pauline Trigere was always sophisticated, she dominated the New York fashion scene for more than 50 years.  Trigere created her designs by draping fabric rather than sketching and everything just had to b

If anyone was handed out the Best Dressed Award in Atlanta it would have to go to my friend Nancy.  She has been a collector of the finest of the finest items for decades and she collects with great style and gusto!  Nancy pays attention to every detail, when she finds a fabulous piece she touches to feel the fabric, she turns it over to look at the backside, she turns it inside out to look at the hem and the way it was sewn.  She digest the entire piece and that’s what I love about Nancy.  She

I love this blue velvet Dior “lounge wear” top and yes I’m putting it with a vintage Escada suede skirt.  Why you ask?  Why not !  I don’t believe that just because something says ‘lounge wear’ you have to wear the damn thing at home lounging while watching “One Life to Live” or “The Young & The Restless”.  Oh hell no, it means wear it out and lounge !  I’m a firm believer in setting your own rules and follow no one.  Don’t just blend in, STAND OUT.  Hell if you wanted to just blend in, go to To

I just had my Pauline Trigere cherry popped!  Yes that’s right, this lovely vintage cropped Trigere jacket, is my very first found item from this label.  I went directly to YouTube to see if there were any previous interviews with Pauline Trigere and luckily there was this 1984 interview.  It’s amazing and she was fantastic as you’ll see when you watch this video.  In many ways she was America’s Coco Chanel.  Pauline Trigere was sophisticated, elegant and never afraid to speak her mind – a large

This vintage Lanvin 70′s dress looks amazing even today and that has everything to do with Jeanne Lanvin.  Jeanne Lanvin opened a millinery shop in Paris in 1890.  She became known for the beautiful dresses she was making for her daughter so in 1909, Lanvin opened her dressing making business and the rest they say is history.  Jeanne Lanvin was all about designing pieces that were timeless and as you can see from this dress, she was spot on.  There is a lot to be said about craftsmanship and of

Who doesn’t love getting their hands on a vintage 70′s maxi dress by Rizkallah for Malcolm Starr?  Name just one person and I’ll send them the deed to The Empire State Building !!  This maxi Malcolm Starr dress is simply divine.  Malcolm Starr was a popular American dress manufacturer and head of the ready to wear company with the same name.  The dress company was started in the 1940′s by Malcolm’s father Frank who was a very well known figure in the textile industry back in the day.  During tha

This Shoshanna dress just looks de-lish enough to eat and I mean that in a good way.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the color of this dress, it looks like sherbet frozen dessert doesn’t it?  YUMMY.  It’s a sexy dress on every angle so why did it end up inside a thrift store?  No idea but grateful it did.  There isn’t any logic to why certain items end up there but I’m delighted that people donate their unwanted goods to thrift stores.  I would love to see a pair of Tom Ford heels with this dress, and prefera

Good GODS almighty will you just look at these gorgeous vintage Pierre Cardin plaid slacks?  These are so over the top hot and chic even today 50 years later.  That’s what I love about good solid design, it’s timeless.  These are thick wool slacks that will keep any women warm, in style, even in the coldest of winter months.  The brown Bally blouse works nicely with these vintage Cardin slacks, it gives it a nice modern feel.  Lets see Bally & vintage Pierre Cardin in one single outfit all I can

Right off the bat I’m going to tell you that this white Claude Montana is a man’s shirt!  Yes it’s a man’s shirt and when I found it in the thrift store my eyes popped out.  Not just because of the label but because it just happens to be my SIZE !!!  How lucky is that?  I am the biggest fan of Claude Montana on the face of this planet so when I find anything from this brilliant creative artist, I grab it !  His designs from the 80′s are even hotter today.  He created bold designs, he was futuris

Nina Ricci vintage logo 70s 2 piece iconic…

The thing I find interesting about vintage is the sizing.  This vintage 70′s Nina Ricci 2 piece stunning blouse with skirt is a vintage size 14 but in today’s sizing it’s more like a 6.  The Nina Ricci Weekend label is 70′s and this is a label I just can’t find enough of.  Love vintage Nina Ricci.  The House of Ricci in Paris was set up in 1932 and when she retired from designing in the early 1950′s she was already in her 70′s.  This iconic French label is a pillar of the fashion industry and if

Versace floral sexy dress is a show stopper…

My eyes completely bulged out of my sockets when I saw the label on this dress.  It was packed so tight in between dresses I had to flight to push back all the dresses but thank goodness I did.  I tell you, you really have to look at everything when you’re shopping in a thrift store because anything could be anywhere!  This dress really does have the WOW factor turned way up, not to mention the sexy factor…  Next time you’re at a thrift store or at a yard or estate sale, leave no stone unturned.

I love finding vintage 70′s Oleg Cassini second hand.  LOVE IT.  When I saw this sweet little green sporty dress with pockets and fabulous gold buttons, I just freaked.  This item is so damn hot and contemporary now it isn’t funny.  Oleg Cassini, who designed the dresses that helped make Jacqueline Kennedy the most glamorous First Lady in history.  After John Kennedy was elected, he persuaded Jacqueline to use Cassini as the creator of her total look, rather than one of many designers at that ti

Roaming around The Village Jewel last week I found what I thought was a Kenneth Jay Lane necklace based on the 'KL' signature. I almost didn't buy it but the little faux pearl insets coupled with the fact that I hadn't seen anything like it, I just couldn't let it go. Once home, I decided to do a bit of research and found that what I have is a vintage Karl Lagerfeld design from the 80's.
