It is a truism of the history of dress that decade-defining looks generally don’t congeal until quite late in the period they eventually come to represent. The miniskirts and Crayola colours of the 1960s, the power shoulders of the ’80s, the minimalism of the ’90s — all reached critical mass well into the midpoint of those eras, when whatever had been bubbling up in wardrobes and on sidewalks found its reflection in the wider world.

The modern, white décor is complemented by an array of beautiful clothes, shoes, jewelry and handbags that hang chicly along the walls and adorn the shelves and display cases.

With Trump assuming the role of POTUS, there have been numerous moments when the mere existence of Muslims in USA has been questioned; to such an extent that young girls out of fear of violence would not wear a hijab. However, at the same time the world also witnessed and applauded Muslim women like Noor Tagouri for giving her best pose in Playboy; Halima Aden for catching eyes at some of the biggest fashion weeks and Anniesa Hasibuan for creating history not once, but twice. What’s in common –

The 2016 Fashion Moments I Won’t Forget

As years go, 2016 has been one of the roughest. It’s been so all-around awful, in fact, that Fuck2016 has become not just a popular hashtag, but a T-shirt—$19.99 and going fast at lookhuman.com! With slogan tees all over the runways, why didn’t a designer think of that?

Fashion, of course, has had trials of its own. New York upstarts Suno and Ohne Titel shuttered. Designers still in business worried about shoppers acclimatized to seasonal 80 percent markdowns, an unsustainable model if ever there

Picture books with lively content

Images of a little boy on the seashore in the 1960s or a newborn baby devouring mother’s milk might are not generally considered part of a style bible, but King of Hats, Stephen Jones, and Queen of Bags, Olympia Le-Tan have exposed themselves with all their fun and foibles in two tomes.

Rizzoli has become the publisher of choice for the fashion world. But what is so often a visual feast with a scant regard for storytelling is served up in a more lavish way for what can be seen as instant Christma

5 Mistakes Every Groom Should Avoid

While future brides-to-be scroll through Pinterest boards and wedding-dress websites and pack their Saturdays with appointments at chic bridal boutiques full of pink Champagne and roses, their male counterparts can hardly begin to seek out their own personal style without confronting a paucity of less than optimal options. Take my husband, for example: a classic jeans-and-tee guy who spent a half-year good-heartedly listening to me bitch about what wedding dress to buy. In turn, I spent all of a

Ahead of the Curve

Size doesn’t determine style, but it is known for altering availability. Teeny sample sizes and brands that cap out too small are the norm. And while the fashion world is slow-moving when it comes to updating its sizes and options, St. Louisan Qristyl Frazier is bridging the gap by making chic pieces for sizes 6 to 28.

From Janet Jackson to Mary J. Blige, Rosie O’Donnell and Queen Latifah, pieces by Qristyl Frazier Designs (QFD) have been worn and promoted by celebrities for years. Frazier’s work

The Red Opium show by Sandra Rives featuring Peter Farmer got off to an interesting start with an Australian Aboriginal dance. It was the perfect opening to a collection that featured five original Aboriginal artworks from the Noongar tribe/mob.

The resort wear collection is called Alinga, which means Sun Goddess in the Aboriginal language. Light dresses both long and short were seen along with easy pants and sarong-style skirts. There were also spaghetti strap tops an

The late British fashion doyen Alexander McQueen once said, “I think there is beauty in everything. What ‘normal’ people would perceive as ugly, I can usually see something of beauty in it.” Kavitha Chandran, founder of fashion accessories label Urmi, is clearly a subscriber of McQueen’s sentiment. The fashion entrepreneur has found beauty in nondegradable plastic waste. In January, she founded a handbag label that makes bags out of recyclable plastic.

Actress Marion Cotillard revelled in the costume fittings for her new spy thriller Allied because she was in awe of the 1940s-inspired outfits.

The French beauty admits she isn't usually one to spend hours in the wardrobe department on the set of her film projects, but this time was different as she fell in love with the period clothing.

"It was the first time I would like, run to costume fittings," she smiled on U.S. breakfast show Today.

To show cleavage or not, that’s the question. It’s not, or at least that’s what the December issue of British Vogue magazine says. The writer, Kathleen Baird-Murray, stated in the article titled Desperately Seeking Cleavage: “The cleavage – those magnificent mounds pushed together to display sexual empowerment, to seduce, to inspire lust or even just to show off – is over, or at least, taking a well-earned break.”

"Da, Da, Da, Da, Here comes the bride".

Well, that's followed by: "Da, Da, Da, Da, Here comes the bill".

I listened to Neil Roberts, founder of peer-to-peer lender Harmoney talking about "loan stories" recently.

My heart sank when he talked about a man who borrowed because all three of his daughters were getting married in the same year.

Daughters, that is not on!

Your father gave you life. He raised you. He gave you love and encouragement, and what? You left him in debt
