I have a hard time passing up Halston and who wouldn’t, just look at this pattern.  Of course I’m always dying to find early 70′s Halston dresses & gowns, that’s what gets me up every day.  I’m serious….  Just thinking that today might be the day I find that super rare & collectible early Halston piece makes the blood flow everywhere!!!  To say I get excited about thinking about that possibility – is a serious understatement !  Will you just check out the front and back of this vintage Byblos be

I love this navy Narciso Rodriguez top with this black Nina Ricci skirt with pockets so much I don’t even know where to begin.  Narciso Rodriguez is one of the foremost American designers of the last 2 decades.  Anna WINtour, has said, “No one but Narciso has ever made a simple line look more stunning.”  In 1996, Rodriguez received international acclaim when he designed the wedding dress that his close friend Carolyn Bessette wore when she married John Kennedy, Jr.  Sweet right?  His fashion hou

Here goes another blog post that I see & touch but don’t buy.  I tell you this haunts me too…  I saw this black with pink trim and the first thought was could this be a vintage Thierry Mugler jacket?  The lines & cut of this jacket really remind me of Mugler.  I got excited when I saw the Sak’s Fifth Avenue label and thought “it could be Mugler”.  I unzipped the jacket and saw the David Hayes label inside and smiled.  David Hayes is a California based design firm and I don’t believe they are sti

I consider finding this vintage 70′s Emilio Pucci silk brown blouse a gift from the GODS above.  Finding a solid 70′s Pucci item is the most delicious part of this meal.  Normally when you hear the word Pucci you automatically think of the wild iconic prints not anything solid and that’s why I can’t believe my luck with finding a solid vintage Pucci item.  It’s just sweeter than sweet tea !  Emilio Pucci, a dashing Florentine aristocrat, began his fashion career unexpectedly on the slopes of Zer

Happy 4th of July….

After the tasty food & endless cocktails and just after the firework celebrations is when we will plop down and watch The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert.…  Yes today I won’t be hitting any thrift stores, I’ll be resting, eating, drinking and laughing my ass off.  I hope you all have a STYLISH 4th of July…

I absolutely love this 2 piece vintage Guy Laroche power suit and for every reason you can think of.  It’s so yummy the first thing I thought of was Alexis Carrington from Dynasty ! Oh yes I did !  Guy Laroche opens his own fashion house in Paris in 1957.  60 brilliantly presented pieces turned this young unknown into a Great Couturier overnight and propose a new kind of image for women.  Guy Laroche is an institution in France and wearing his vintage pieces makes any woman stand apart.  This su

Guy Laroche mens pajamas….

I saw this 2 piece mens Guy Laroche pajamas that just happened to be my size in the thrift store for a whooping $3.49 and did I buy them?  No and it haunts me to this day.  Why in the world did I not get them?  I mean they were only $3.49 and I believe I can afford that.  I thought about it and carried them around with me while I continued to shop.  Then I remembered that I only sleep in my Calvin Klein underwear so I put them back. I’ve tried sleeping with pajamas before but mid way through the

I really don’t know why I even bothered going over to THRIFTique in Atlanta but I did.  I try to make myself go there at least once every 2 or 3 years because I’m always hopeful they will have come down to Earth and life will be back to normal.  Sadly this is one thrift store in Atlanta that just escapes my realm of reality.  Let me give you Webster’s definition of the word “thrift” and we can go from there.

I’ve had the great pleasure of knowing HollyBeth, founder of HollyBeth Organics Skincare, for several years and have always wanted to interview her about her collection of Hermes scarves.  It’s true I use just about every HollyBeth Organic product but my go to and MUST have item is always the Hair & Body Silk.   I use it from head to toe but most importantly I use it as a pre-shave oil.  One of the most underrated products in a man’s shaving routine is a good pre-shave oil and there isn’t any th

I love finding this 80′ silver St John tank and this vintage 70′s wrap skirt by Valentino within the same thrift store.  A silver St John tank will never go out of style nor will it ever run on empty.  This piece has enough gas inside the tank to drive for miles and miles.  What I’m really flipping over this is wrap skirt by Valentino right out from the 70′s.  It’s fantastic and just look at this vintage label.  I later found a Cacharel scarf and thought it would look terrific with the silver St

I wish I could say that everyday of every week I see the label Claude Montana but I would be lying to you.  This label I just don’t see often enough and it’s one of my all time favorite, this and Thierry Mugler, especially their early 80′s designs.  The world hasn’t really seen much of Claude Montana in 2 decades, I think he’s living a quite life in Spain but man oh man was he a force to be recken with at the peak of his fashion career.  He was and will always be considered a genius.   When you

I love talking to other thrifters so this is just pure pleasure to introduce to you Nancy.  I met Nancy about what feels like a decades ago because we have so much in common, but in reality it was probably just over a year.  I was at a Goodwill when I heard this voice say to me “are you that thrifting guy that was in the newspaper?”  She was kind enough to start up a conversation with me and we’ve been fast friends ever since.  I’ve had the pleasure of going to her house and stepping into her cl

I love Hanae Mori and I just about freaked when I saw the label and then when I peaked inside the jacket and saw the original tag still hanging there with a price tag of $500, that’s when I did freak.  Of course I’m dying to find a vintage 70′s silk chiffon gown by Hanae Mori but for now I will happily take this bold floral print jacket and call it a day.  Hanae Mori is a fashion designer born in Japan in 1926.  During the war she had suspend her studies to work, then married a son of a wealthy

I just don’t even know where to begin with this blog posting because I love both items so damn much.  My face dropped when I saw the Scaasi label inside this vintage 80′s Scaasi dress at the thrift store.  Just dropped.  I love this dress and yes I remember women wearing this dress back in the 80′s.  When you put this dress with this vintage yellow Byblos coat it’s stylish enough that I actually could see Lady GaGa wearing this out.  Can’t you?  Everything about both items are just all about qua

I just love seeing this old 70′s St John Knit label on a perfectly good vintage piece.  There isn’t anything better than vintage 70′s St John because that’s when they really made quality knitwear, you really can’t say that about the brand today.  When women come into my boutique - Doubletake Recycled Luxury Boutique- in Atlanta and want to consign vintage 70′s St John items I usually talk them into keeping them because the quality was superior and you can’t replace it.  So yes I do love finding

I recently interviewed Dawn, who has one of the keenest eyes for design, and this is a Special Edition follow up.  Dawn recently found 2 very amazing items: Thierry Mugler & Herve Leger all within a few days of each other.  She texted me photos of the Thierry Mugler gown and my reply was OMG and then she texted me a photo of the Herve Leger dress and my reply was OMG…  So I had to ask her a few questions again so here goes our interview…..

When I spend hours daily looking & hunting for vintage luxury for my women clients finding a little treasure for me is a nice reward.  I love Brioni …  Brioni is the name of one of the most prestigious fashion brands worldwide.  It started in 1945 in Rome when 2 young & rather creative friends, a little known fashion designer Gaetano Savini and tailor Nazareno Fontikoli  opened their own business on sewing fashion clothes for men.   They named their  newly established brand in honor of a remarka

You know I love me some Sonia Rykiel and I will never pass on the opportunity to collect more of it….  I love this label and yes I do remember when women in the 80′s were wearing this velour Sonia Rykiel dress.  Sonia Rykiel opened her first store in Paris in 1968 and by 190 WWD proclaims her “Queen of Knits”….  You modernize this dress with a touch of maybe some Giuseppe Zanotti lace ankle tie sandals…  Wearing some vintage Rykiel is always in style in my book, which is currently on the New Yor

For me to actually pick up a Ralph Lauren dress from even a thrift store has to have something special about it and this RL Black Label dress sure fits that description.  The Black Label by Ralph Lauren is great quality and made in the USA which I really love but this simple dress isn’t just timeless it’s sexy & chic all at once.  The fabric is viscose & wool and feels like a million bucks.  This Ralph Lauren dress retailed for between $998-1298 when it was first produced and who knows when that

I think I could spend the entire blog post just talking about this vintage 80′s Pierre Cardin blouse.  I think I could.  I love the collar on this vintage Cardin blouse not to mention the pattern.  It looks like Van Gogh’s Starry Night.  Just love this blouse and to be from the 80′s and in such great condition all I can do is thank the GODS above.  I think vintage Pierre Cardin is off the chart HOTness.  I also love finding this vintage 80′s Diane Von Furstenberg houndstooth print, with pockets,
