You know that old saying “hit them in their wallet”??  Well it’s a proven fact that – that indeed works..  If everyone stopped graciously handing money over to Sea World and Ringling Bros the abuse of animals would terminate.  In other words it would put the kibosh on animal cruelty and I don’t know about you but for me I long to live on this planet where our 4 legged friends & sea animals are respected.  Just go to a museum or a movie instead of supporting institutions like those, we can do so

I love learning something new everyday and today I learned that the retail store H&M are at the forefront of sustainability in the fashion industry. Did you know that? I certainly didn’t because I grouped H&M with companies like WalMart & Target, you know companies that have very little concern regarding their employees or the environment. H&M is a company that started in the late 40′s in Sweden and since Sweden is more on the cutting edge with “green” alternative energy sources that just makes

I tried very hard to find this outfit a bottom but ran out of luck.  She’s naked from the bottom down but she’s a trooper and will live to tell the tale….  I got lucky by finding this striped Paul Smith Black Label blouse and you know me, I won’t pass Paul Smith up especially the black label.  Defined by its fresh femininity and unique detailing, Paul Smith Black is the epitome of elegance and style.  Perfectly encapsulating the Paul Smith ‘classic with a twist’ with grace and simplicity, Paul S

I recently met Susan as she brought in several amazing pieces of vintage luxury to consign at Doubletake Recycled Luxury.  Vintage labels such as: YSL, Carolina Herrera & Lacroix not to mention Prada, Miu Miu & Moschino.  So Susan sat down and we just chit chatted like we’ve known each other from day one.  She has a hunger for finding vintage luxury as I do so right then I knew I had to interview her but when she told me about her 2 recent gifts – HERMES – you know I had to interview the lady.

I found this Rena Lange tweed jacket within the first 5 minutes of going into a thrift store and I must have had 3 women approach me commenting about this jacket.  I thought to myself “well of course they are commenting on this jacket it’s Rena Lange…”  This is a high end German fashion brand.  I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw this Marc Jacobs dress because the Rena Lange jacket looks amazing with the dress.  Both items are fun and exciting, youthful and exhilarating and isn’t that what fa

As I flipped through the suit section of the thrift store I first came across the Louis Feraud suit and directly behind it was the Ungaro vintage retro 80′s power-suit.  Back to back.  BAM BAM…  I love when I see things like that inside a thrift store.  These are 2 very fashionable French labels with good reason.  I just thought it was so interesting that they were next to each other, I mean we have a whole thrift store here folks and they were side by side.  I love how the GODS play with us.  B

You can’t get any better than finding 2 major fashion brands from Italy at the same estate sale.  The woman had excellent taste what more can I say….  I love the jungle print dress by Max Mara, it’s so simple and chic, it’s timeless. It looks great solo and if the temp dips in the night you put your Agnona jacket on and off you go to make trouble or history.  Agnona is a very high end Italian brand, they are all about quality.  Nature and beauty, style and sophistication, handcraft and innovatio

I immediately fell in deep passionate love with this royal blue silk blouse by Mary Ann Restivo and I do mean immediately.  It’s so beautifully designed and still looks amazing ever since it was designed back in the 80′s.  This blouse was from Isaacson’s Atlanta which was a ultra high end boutique, they carried all the biggies.  Mary Ann Restivo worked for Dior from 1974-1980 and then launched her brand in 1980.  Did I tell you how much I love this blouse?  I love finding this early Prada black

Treehugger.com is one of my favorite websites .  I’m always clicking on the “Living” section to see whats happening in the world and the world we now live in.  Everyday now for 4 years I write about the fantastic luxury items I find at thrift stores, yard sales, estate sales, consignment shops and flea markets.  My message is clear and simple “Rethink Your Shopping Habits”.  Shopping for your clothing, furniture, housewares, bedspreads or even your books – in places that recycle and resale those

I had the best experience awhile back when Lisa Jordan walked through the doors of Doubletake Recycled Luxury Boutique.  Immediately you notice her beauty and then when you start to dig into an in-depth conversation you soon realize this woman has 101 fascinating stories and I wanted to hear every one of them…  She was the kind of client you never want to leave because you could talk from sunrise to sunset and never be bored.  I soon emailed her asking if I could interview her for a blog post an

I’ve been in hundreds and hundreds of thrift stores in my life and almost everyone of them have wedding dresses.  I took this photo when I was shopping at a Salvation Army.  There are several wedding dress to pick from on the rack and I thought why not pick up a wedding dress for under $100 at a thrift store?  Think of all the super cool things you (and your alteration person) can do with a second hand wedding dress…  I mean you can shorten it to make it more sexy and chic, you can add any color

My Facebook friend Liz follows The Thrifters blog and recently she messaged me on Facebook that she had found a red cocktail dress by Carolyne Roehm.  You know my mouth started to salivate hearing those words.  She told me she had found it in some thrift store in Boulder and I just came unglued.  I melted into tiny molecules of nothingness instantly.  I love vintage Carolyne Roehm.  So she messaged me several photos of the red cocktail dress and asked me if I would consider selling it for her at

Thread Social’s last collection was from Fall 2011 so this lovely piece was created somewhere between 2006 & 2011.  Beth Blake and Melissa Akey launched Thread Social in 2006, following the success of their fashion-forward bridal line Tread.  A tribute to all things nostalgic and flirty, Thread Social was the New York girl’s go-to design label for the perfect party dress but sadly this party has ended.  Beth Blake worked for Chanel and American Vogue, while Melissa Akey was at Barney’s New York…

I will never pass on the chance to save – salvage anything from Genny.  This yellow dress by Genny, made in Italy, with all its pleats is so delish I can’t stand it.  I love pleats and I love pleats on dresses that are made in Italy (snob snob)… This label was founded in 1962 and they were never CHEAP.  Genny was always a luxury Italian brand that has stood the test of time.  I couldn’t tell you the age or decade this was made but who really cares because their designs are timeless.  This line w

Who doesn’t love finding Gianni Versace inside a thrift store?  I see no hands raised and that’s very good…  These Gianni Versace gold clip earrings with Medusa’s face were still in the original box and look like they were never worn.  That just amazed the hell out of me.  The fact that someone saved the original box is brilliant and then donated it to the thrift store.  I tell you – you really have to look in every corner when you go inside a thrift store because hidden treasures are everywhere

You know every time I find a vintage Oleg Cassini item, I get excited and I guess it’s because he was such a part of American fashion history.  Remember he designed lots of clothes for First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy back in the 60′s so he certainly paved the road for many new talented designers.  My go to site is always 1stdibs and you can get a vintage Oleg Cassini on that site for $195 for a blouse to $1,600 for a gown and even a few items you have to email the seller because the price is upon

I love finding anything vintage Ungaro and you would have to be living in Bolivia not to know why.  Ungaro’s vintage pieces are highly desirable & collectible.  This 80′s knit form fitting heavy knit fabric dress is as fashionable today as the day it was created.  Let me give you a little run down on The House of Ungaro….  Jeanne Labib-Lamour.  Giles Deacon.  Esteban Cortazar.  Peter Dundas.  Vincent Darre.  Giambattista Valli and not forgetting Estrella Archs & Lindsay Lohan all have passed thr

I recently read STYLE BARRON by Nick Barron and his article on Vivienne Westwood participation in Greenpeace’s ‘Flag for the Future’ competition in which people from around the world submitted designs for an official flag promoting the ‘Save the Artic’ campaign that is to be placed on the North Pole sea bed.  This is to raise awareness to protect the waters around the North Pole and to ban offshore oil drilling and unsustainable fishing in the Artic.  Their conversation was very informative so I

These pieces came out of 2 separate thrift stores but on the same day.  I will rarely pass up the chance to salvage a vintage 80′s jumpsuit and it’s not that difficult when the label says “Neiman Marcus” now is it?  I love jumpsuit on women, they are so friggin hot.  So about this St John gold belt now.  I was thrifting and ran into my friend Nancy and when we see each other we chit chat and then both go into completely different directions.  I headed over to the dresses and she went to check ou
