VOGUE (1238)

Each time I find a Jil Sander piece in a thrift store I believe an angel gets their wings!   I’ve always said that if I won the lottery I would donate every Brioni, Missoni, Burberry, Armani, Turnbull & Asser, Paul Smith, Versace etc in my closet to a shelter and then walk into Jil Sander in NYC and let them tailor me for my entire wardrobe and then I would never have to buy another piece of clothing for as long as I live.  Since that’s just a speculation on winning the lottery and the chances a

For a serial thrifter I’m not so bad….  I grabbed these gorgeous pieces within the same thrift store and smiled all day long.  Love this Nanette Lepore camisole piece, it’s classic and modern.  Ohio born Nanette Lepore launched her namesake line in 1992 after studying at FIT in NYC.  Her sumptuous pieces have been worn by stars such as Sarah Jessica Parker & Hillary Swank.  Thankfully I found these modern brown walking shorts by Theory to really compliment the Nanette Lepore top.   From inside a

I love an all out black on black ensemble especially one that has Diane von Furstenberg & Marc Jacobs….  See that’s hot isn’t it?  This silk DVF button up blouse is simple chic because you can dress it with your favorite black skinny jeans or maybe these black cotton Marc Jacobs slacks?  Either way you slice this cake its delicious!  DVF has always been one of the people I could invite to my little afternoon tea party not just because she a STYLISH designer but because she has lived a very full

I couldn’t have timed or picked this posting any better than by pairing these 2 brands together and here is why….  Brian Rennie assumed the position of creative director for Basler.  Rennie was with the luxury brand Escada for 20 years!  “We are pleased to have both the competent and charismatic Brian Rennie on board as creative director.  He will bring our brand forward with his extensive international experience in the creative sector” explains Michael Krauledat, speaker for the Basler brand.

While reading this posting I want you to stop what you are doing and arch your back.  I ask you to arch your back so that when you finish reading this posting and check out all the photos you’ll want to stand taller.  Arching your back and standing tall when you walk is as classy as watching “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” on a rainy afternoon.  This posting is gorgeous from the top by Poleci to the black Michael Stars wrap down to the gingham Armani Collezioni slacks…HOTNESS…. The top is by 2 sisters:

Did I get totally lucky with this posting or what?  I mean I walked right into my favorite thrift store and gobbled up all 3 pieces in record breaking earth shattering time.  This complete ensemble with it’s earthy tones is just up my alley because during the winter all I wore was earth tones and black!  This top by Lacoste is so soft its amazing and that’s because it’s made from 100% lyocell.  Lyocell is a regenerated cellulose fiber made from dissolving pulp (bleached wood pulp).  Plus it’s al

This outfit is so fit for a royal party or just to walk your trash to the curb either way it’s perfect.  I swear on a stack of V Magazines (my bible) that I put this ensemble together in under a minute…. I first grabbed the Dina Bar-El silk halter top and then literally seconds later I found this sheer ultra long Vivienne Tam skirt.  This entire outfit is drop dead gorgeous or what I like to say STYLISH…. Dina Bar-El was born in Germany and came to the USA when she was 18.  She began designing t

Turtlenecks always give you that extra cha ching and when they are brand new like this Vincewell it’s cha ching with a megaphone.  The Marc Jacobs skirt borders on being preppy but in that modern flair way.  What I love about this outfit is the linen Marina Rinaldi jacket. Marina Rinaldi is a ready to wear, plus size women’s clothing brand of Max Mara.  Founded in 1980, Marina Rinaldi Group takes its name from the great-grandmother of the founder of Max Mara, Archille Maramotti, who in 1850 owne

With this posting I don’t even know where to begin because I want to talk about Wolford & Paul & Joe all day long… This is my 2nd piece from Wolford I’ve found in a thrift store and this black classic short sleeve top is a must have.  For 60 years the Wolford brand has stood for the highest quality, innovative knitwear technology, creativity & luxury.  Wolford has positioned itself on the world market as a luxury brand for stockings, ready to wear items, underwear & bathing suits and stands for

There are so many Pucci’ish prints on the market today that when I see a Pucci’ish print I’m always reserved until I see the label…. Oh honey you should have been there when I saw this label!  I did a Doubletake and then a Tripletake and all during my thrift store shopping I never let it out of my sight! Emilo Pucci, was a dashing Florentine aristocrat, who began his fashion career unexpectedly on the slopes of Zermatt in 1947 when the photo of a revolutionary ski suit he’s designed for a femal

When my brother Darrell & I were growing up we constantly heard our dad say “turn off the lights or turn off the water when your brushing your teeth” and you know when we were little we just thought our dad was cheap.  Later in my life I realized that my dad wasn’t cheap he was a conservationist and that’s where my roots come from.  To this day I take showers in way under 5 minutes and this might gross you out but I don’t flush my toilet everything I pee.  Being smart about my planet is importan

These gorgeous black stirrups by Les Copains made me have a 80′s flashback and those kind of flashbacks I don’t mind…  I grabbed these stirrups and thought to myself “the 80′s are over so I think I’ll alter them” and that is exactly what I am doing with these Les Copains.  I’m waltzing over to my alteration lady and saying to her “please snip snip so you can helm helm”!  Within a second these slacks can go from the 80′s to present day all because of a simple alteration.  I always say if you have

This posting is a no nonsense posting, I mean right out of the gate this pony intends to win.  The blouse is a black textured cotton by France’s leading modern women’s designer agnes b.  I can’t tell you that each time I score a agnes b piece in a thrift store just how excited I become.  Agnes b opened her 1st shop in Paris in 1975.  Since then, she has designed clothing for men, women & children that reflect the spirit of the age by creating a wardrobe that can easily adapt to every personality

Everything in our lives we have some control over, not much but some and that also refers to buying our clothes.  We can easily go into any department store and grab the goodies or we can do what I do and shop thrift, and shopping thrift whether its consignment stores, thrift stores or clothing liquidation stores it’s shopping ‘green’.  Ok here is my post:  check out this white Nicole Miller sleeveless dress that is perfect for any occasion and then check out the 2 identical dresses by Theory.

What I love about James Perse is the fact that design and good taste run through his veins as the son of Maxfield’s Tommy Perse, designer James Perse’s fashion education started early.  Inspiration comes from his West coast lifeSTYLE and early memories spent between his father’s LA boutique and on the beach.  Let me just quote what the NYTimes wrote “There are destination stores that you must make pilgrimages to just for your edification.  You go for the same reason you go to great little museum

Who doesn’t love a bargain these days?  I know I’m all about a bargain especially if it’s a green one and by green I mean thrift!  I love Laundry by Shelli Segal pieces, I find them often and always love them for my clients but what I don’t find everyday is the brand Basler.  This Basler jacket is hot off the press and on fire making it a badass.   This jacket could make a toe sack STYLISH but everything from Basler is fashionable and timeless.  Ok so I grabbed my 2 jackets and as I was heading

This little black / white ensemble will have all the upper crust drooling in their salads and that’s just what I want.   I can’t tell you what a huge fan of Gianfranco Ferre I am but I would be in excellent company considering that Oprah was the biggest fan of his there was, well Oprah and Elizabeth Taylor and you can’t top those 2 women.  Formally trained as an architect, Italian designer Gianfranco Ferre launched his 1st signature womenswear collection in ’78.  Known for crisp lines, exact cut

Finding anything from Yohji Yamamoto is rewarding enough let me tell you and its far and few between that I do actually find the Y-3 label in thrift stores.  As I scan the clothes in thrift stores my eyes are always centered on the label, it is the very first thing I see when I thrift, so when I spotted the Y-3 I knew instantly the treasure I had found.  Since 2002, Y-3 has pushed the boundaries of fashion and sport, exploring an intriguing intersection between STYLE & athleticism and initiating

The new scent still lingers in these Marc Jacobs for Bergdorf Goodman slacks I kid you not!  What are the chances of finding brand new Marc Jacobs slacks from BG in a thrift store?  Obviously not very high because I was able to pillage these and walk around with a smile that went from ear to ear for quite some time.  I just kept saying to myself “these are MJ from BG” holy crap….  With his trendsetting vision, Marc Jacobs predicts exactly what women want to wear season after season.  The Parsons

There isn’t 1 thing about this ensemble that I don’t like in fact it’s pretty damn perfect… If I were to guess I would say that this Escada cream jacket is brand new and when I say brand new its because it has that brand new scent ‘Eau de Brand New’ and that’s my favorite scent for the moment.  Since I’ve been a thrifter now for over 28 years I can honestly testify that I run across brand new items on a daily basis and at this point in the game I have to say I’m always pleasantly surprised.  I s
