Akris is exclusive, a quality enhanced by the subtlety of understatement. Albert Kriemler pinpoints his objective: “When a woman walks into a room, I want people to notice her personality first and her clothing second.” I believe that’s exactly what this brown velvet by Akris does.  Each time I find Akris in a thrift store I have to wait to exhale in order to keep my sanity.  Akris, established 90 years ago, has developed into a fashion house of international recognition.  Owning a velvet jacket

You know even owing a handy iPhone doesn’t really do the trick when it comes to finding out important information such as who in the hell is Raul Blanco.  I salvaged this black silk vintage dress by Raul Blanco and loved it but needed more 911 or is that 411??  So I Googled Raul Blanco and there were varies links that had his dresses for sale that ranged anywhere from $80 – 160 and that they were mainly created in the 80′s and oh yes he did a line for Neiman Marcus too.  This black silk vintage

I have to say it’s been a very long time since I’ve spent the day with Robert Rodriguez.  Ok I really didn’t spend an actual day with Robert Rodriguez per se but I did hang out with him in the thrift store.  I love Robert Rodriguez’s vision and yes I’m proud to say that he follows me on Twitter just like Trina Turk does and if I Tweet them they Tweet back with such a lovely pitch.  I love how today as a blogger you can Tweet someone you admire and if you get lucky they Tweet you back and to me t

I live for blogging about labels I’ve haven’t found before, you know those moments when I no longer qualify as a virgin.  I got so excited when I spotted this cream silk Pauw, made in Belgium, super sleek blouse.  This Dutch brand is uber luxurious and rare to find especially in Atlanta.  With a R$CH history and culture Pauw has been in the business for over 5 decades.  It operates 30 stores throughout the Netherlands as well as in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Milan, London & Tokyo.  Th

I was enjoying myself one day at a festival when in the corner of my eye I spotted this pattern, which reminded me of Gucci, so I walked in & out of her booth with this vintage 80′s Ruth Norman caftan.  Yes a festival not a thrift store or estate sale but a good old fashion festival, so the moral of this story is always keep your eyes open for STYLISH designs everywhere you go in life.  Ruth Norman was a brand that designed women’s leisurewear, namely caftans, loose-fitting dresses, 2 piece outf

RACHEL Rachel Roy black & white dress..

I’m loving this sassy RACHEL Rachel Roy black & white dress on every level, not just 1 or 2 but every level.  I love the bold houndstooth pattern and the zipper on the front and did I mention to you that this dress was brand new?  It was…  After college she moved to New York and jumped right into the styling world.  She styled magazine shoots & music videos.  She launched Rachel Roy in 2005 and in 2009 she created RACHEL Rachel Roy which is the younger sister of the Rachel Roy collection The RRR

Memorial Day 2012…

Today I felt the need to just say thank you to all our men & women wearing their uniforms and risking their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces.  My dream is for one day the entire world to be ruled by women and the thought of going to war will be a thing of the past.  Call me crazy but it can & will happen.  Lets visualize a world filled with lovepeacejoy, tolerance & abundance.  No one single person can change the world overnight but I believe if we take it nice and slow w

Carmen Marc Valvo 2 piece….

Carmen Marc Valvo is sold at high end department stores so when I saw this aqua silk 2 piece new ensemble, you know I did a back-flip.  This piece has got to be from his bridal collection because doesn’t it look like something the mother of the bride would wear?  Clean, elegant & chic.  Or it could be for some quinceanera celebration worn by the mother of the young girl…  This outfit was made to celebrate life and the best thing about this ensemble is the fact that afterwards you can wear this

Luxury designer weekly re-cap….

Wearing luxury doesn’t have to break your bank, take it from a professional thrifter.  Everyday as consumers we have an opportunity to flex our shopping muscle and I strongly suggest pumping up your muscles the ‘green’ way.  Every year just the USA alone dumps millions of tons of toxic waste caused by the fashion industry and that’s just in the USA so imagine when you add up the rest of the world….  I shudder at the thought…  Daily everyone of us can do our part in saving our natural precious re

I had absolutely no idea who or what Infinitif is all I know is it has tons of STYLE.  I whipped out my iPhone and Googled the brand and found very little except that Infinitif was established in 1997 as one of the finest and leading high fashion lady garments boutique.  That’s about all I know…  Yes it’s made in France but the construction of this skirt is mind-altering …Who doesn’t love a long pleated skirt especially one made in France?  That’s what I thought…  Now finding the Rag & Bone vest

Rachel Zoe white cape…

I can’t think of anyone in this entire solar system that doesn’t have a tremendous amount of respect for Rachel Zoe .  Yes I have watched her TV reality show on Bravo since the day its conception and watched her slowly and methodologically build a brand.  Her knowledge of vintage fashion is awe-inspiring to me and you can’t beat her passion.  So you can only imagine my de-light when I spotted this gorgeous white Rachel Zoe cape in pristine condition in the thrift store.  My 1st thought was “who

I was walking around inside Goodwill when I saw this shocking orange figure on the very bottom of a shelf.  As I walked near it I was thinking it was actually Scandinavian pottery from the 60′s but as I grabbed it and turned it over it said “Baldelli made in Italy” and the # 889 on the bottom.  Baldelli ceramics have been made near Perugia, Italy since 1943.  The Baldelli family have been making ceramics for 4 generations.  These piggy banks with their bright colors are very collectible so the i

This is from an old friend of mine Art Rietveld, no relations to Gerrit Rietveld that he knows of but there is always hope.  Art is a serial thrifter / yard sale pro and I mean professional and you guys are going to die when you read what he found and his story so here goes…..  Thank you Art for sharing your treasure with my readers and doing your part to keep this planet ‘green’.

Daniel,
Here’s my story:

Lanvin + Ferragamo = STYLE

You and I are going to keep a little secret so get closer and let me spill.  This Lanvin is lingerie from Neiman Marcus but if you didn’t know it immediately would you care?  No because this is so sexy & silk and with the ruffled neckline it just looks like a gorgeous dress Alber Elbaz would have designed only he would have been a very young little boy since this piece is from the late 70′s and he was born in 1961.  I found this mint condition Ferragamo leather white belt that looks AMAZING…..

I think if I were circling the globe in some NASA spacecraft and looked down at the woman wearing this ensemble it wouldn’t take me being a rocket scientist to figure out that this woman has STYLE.  This outfit is so simple chic I can’t stand it.  This extremely soft Proenza Schouler top is off the chart.  Proenza Schouler is a New York based womenswear & accessories brand founded in 2002 by designers Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernandez.  Proenza Schouler is named after the 2 designers’ mothers’

Before you start to complain I know I should have taken more photos of this vintage DVFblouse, I don’t know what I was thinking. Finding a vintage DVF inside the thrift store just reinforces my belief that the thrift store GODS loveeeee me.  I know you can’t see the pleats on the top of the sleeves and again I say I’m sorry for that because you really should see them.  Sometimes I’m lousy photographer.   I really love the color combination of brown & pink together, it’s hot and sexy all in the s

I know I’ve said this 21 zillion times already but yes I really love hearing from fellow thrifters that find luxury clothing in thrift stores.  I received this fantastic letter from Loretta with photos of her items and she’s a pro.  Every time I receive a letter from anyone telling me their story so that I can share it with my readers I’m most grateful.  I’ve been a thrifter now for 30 years and it’s been a incredible journey for my luxury clothes and I wouldn’t have traded it for anything becau

This vintage 60′s Pringle of Scotland blouse color is beyond hot – it’s on fire.  I am a huge fun of this brand so each time I score one in a thrift store I know my good Karma has come back to tip me well.  Pringle of Scotland is nearly 200 years old and world famous for its knitwear.  Alistair Carr is the creative force behind this label and Carr’s prior employer was Balenciaga.  You have to watch this short film about Pringle of Scotland by David Shrigley.  The entire time I spent searching in

I’m a big big fan of caftans especially caftans that are as colorful and vibrant as this vintage 60′s Cole of California is… I’m always out and about hunting for super cool print just in general but to see this super chic print on a caftan well it just shook me to my core.  In 1925, Fred Cole, a silent film actor, created a swimsuit line that set the bar for all others to follow. His suits were gorgeous yet modest, comfortable yet classy, and made any woman, regardless of her size, feel great in

Ok you know I’m a tag hag for luxury but here is something you might not know, I love fabulous vintage in general.  So when this fabulous 70′s jumpsuit with no tag inside jumped right out after me what was I to do?  Grab it and put it in my cart and carry onward my child.  I LOVEEEEreally great designs and yes I’m always hoping they will be vintage Pucci, Dior, Madame Gres, Balenciaga, Lanvin blah blah blah but when they jump out after me with such gusto & STYLE well I just can’t put it back on
