Finding a vintage YSL item in a thrift store is like being that lucky leprechaun that findsthe pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Vintage YSL, Valentino, GuyLaroche, Lanvin, Pucci, Balenciaga and of course Chanel only get betterwith age in my opinion. Before I get to carried away let me tell youabout this ensemble. The colorful top is by Alberto Makali, whom I believe is one brilliant creative designer.I love the way this designer uses fabrics, they are always socomfortable and soft and throw in a splash of color and off you go. Ifound this super light weight green cotton jacket by Velvet that has thenicest curved edges on the bottom of the jacket, it just elevates thispiece to being very today and modern. Oh yes now it’s time to talkabout the skirt…..I thought you would never ask…..YSLhoney YSL…..I don’t mind the length but if a client wanted it shortenedthen by all means I would rush it over to my alteration person and letthem work their magic. In 2001 when YSL retired the YSL Rive Gauchedivision was designed by Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz for 3 seasons and then byTom Ford, who brought the brand back into the spotlight with heightenedsex appeal and provocative marketing. Stefano Pilati is the currentdesigner of YSL. Since this piece is vintage its roots go all the wayback to Yves Saint Laurent himself which gives me the happy giggles….This ensemble is super chic and modern because you can take a vintagepiece and update it with just a simple design such as this green Velvetjacket with the contemporary edges. Vintage always plays so nicely withmodern designs especially ones that have merit.
