Twelve years ago I bought a set of Walter Von Nessen table lamps from a friend of mine who was cleaning out her house and just wanted to move them.  Walter Von Nessen was a lighting and furniture designer that was born in German and emigrated to the US in 1925.  He excelled in lamp design, and he adopted the modern trends from Art Deco to functionalism.  The set of lamp I purchased for $150 which is rock bottom and extremely reasonable when it comes to anything from Nessen.  Soon afterwards I had lamp shade made for them and I paid $150 for the 2 lamp shades…  I figure for $300 I have a set of hot looking lamps.  Today Nessen has become very collectible and I realized it was time for an update.  I went out to a thrift store looking for lamp shades and I shit you not found them!  I got these 2 linen (NEW) lamp shades for $25.00 each….  They are in pristine condition so I grabbed them and couldn’t wait to get them home to see how they fit.  I think they look amazing and to think that the lampshades came out of a thrift store just reinforces my message to you.  You truly can find anything you need second hand, trust me you can!  If you could see my house you would know that every piece of furniture is not only mid century designer furniture but that I got it second hand.   Waltz yourself right into your nearest thrift store, flea market, consignment store and yes hit your estate sales and be prepared to be blown away!
