I had the best experience awhile back when Lisa Jordan walked through the doors of Doubletake Recycled Luxury Boutique.  Immediately you notice her beauty and then when you start to dig into an in-depth conversation you soon realize this woman has 101 fascinating stories and I wanted to hear every one of them…  She was the kind of client you never want to leave because you could talk from sunrise to sunset and never be bored.  I soon emailed her asking if I could interview her for a blog post and she was a gracious as the day is long.  Here goes our conversation….

Q:  Lisa you mentioned to me that you were discovered and signed by John Casablanca and that you lived and modeled in Europe.   Since you were a part of the fashion industry, did that experience sharpen your appreciation for quality?  Tell us some brand names you modeled for…

A:  Yes indeed.. My 15 years in the industry started in New York at a very young age, so I worked with  everyone from Ralph Lauren to Karl Lagerfeld and Patrick Demarchelier (French fashion photographer) to Andy Warhol became more than just regular vernacular, they actually shaped my formative years.  I was raised in the wheelhouse of fashion.  Thank goodness !

Q: When you were sent on a photo shoot did you make it you mission to discover the great vintage stores or flea markets in whatever country you were in?  What were some of the treasures you found in your travels??

A:  It’s always a mission to visit the local museums, parks and flea markets when traveling, even in the smallest of towns.  The Parisian markets are always fabulous, of course, and Barcelona’s was more of a roll up your silk sleeves and dive in adventure.  Incredible items like old Louis Vuitton bags, Chanel bangles and Halston gowns, so much fun.  A blue vintage Diane von Furstenberg halter dress has been a summer rollup and go to staple for years.  It just holds up so well, just like she does !!

Q:  When you were shopping at Doubletake Recycled Luxury you mentioned that you recently got married.  Can you please tell us where you were married and why you picked that location?  You showed me your wedding ring and told me the story so will you please share with my readers your story about your wedding ring???

A:  We are non-traditionalists.  Free of the trappings of what a ring should be or look like – I said vintage, he said Tiffany’s and Voila, a 1950′s Tiffany’s Emerald and diamond ring came into our lives.  It was a perfect match.  For the wedding we choose to each list our dream destinations, at the top of both lists was Southern Patagonia.  I packed all my Pucci and Hermes scarves and off we went for a month of adventure to what is known as “The most pristine place on Earth”.  We could fill our water bottles straight from glacier lakes, it was truly remarkable.  A favorite place was the extremely remote,  5 star boutique conservation hotel -Explora Patagonia.   Explora had joined the beauty of nature and design so well along with conservatorship that it was inspiring.  To us, it was an obvious choice for our wedding, but surprisingly the first ever there and so rare the Chilean National Press came all the way out there to cover it.

Q:  One of my favorite online sites is 1stdibs.com, I’m contstantly going there to see new vintage fashion items.  I think it’s a fantastic sustainable site, everything on there is magic, it is a “green” eco-friendly site because all the items listed have all been produced, they are just looking for new homes.  Who’s idea was it to search on 1stdibs site for a wedding ring??

A:  Mine of course, I adore that site !  All the scouring of the world has been done for you.  I just trapise through all the genres and eras of my hearts content while comfortably sipping a Matcha Tea.   It’s educational.  It’s inspirational.  All those pearls ready for a shell.  What is not to love about that site?

Q:  I’ve met you just once and you shared with me where you were married and all about your ring so to me it seems you make conscience choices about your lifestyle and supporting buying second hand items.  Can you elaborate on that?  Tell us why you love vintage items and why you support the sustainable lifeSTYLE?

A:  I have always been drawn to the unique yet classic aesthetic and finer craftsmanship of earlier time.  Not this built in obsolescence and disposable wardrobe you see everywhere today.  Such a waste. There are so many amazing vintage pieces out there that already exist.  Find a Halton suede trench and own it forever!  You and the Earth will be happier.  I never understood the desire of others to look like one another by having the latest and greatest that is dictated by a few.  It’s a racket.   - What is always in fashion is what suits you.

Thank you Lisa for sharing your STYLISH story with my readers and of course for being concerned about the welfare of this planet we all live on.  You are truly an inspiration and your sense of ‘self’ is honorable so keep keeping it “green”.
