Throughout any given day I will get a text from Dawn saying “what do you think about this piece or look what I just found” so I asked her if she would write down each piece she found within the week.  As the week began and she was texting me I thought “Shazam… Dawn just isn’t your ordinary thrifter, she’s a rockSTAR.”  The labels she found reads like a WHO’s WHO in the fashion world so I wanted to ask her a few questions…..

Q:  I’ve asked you to keep track of all the items you purchased second hand within a week period (7 DAYS) and this list is mind blowing… Balenciaga, Burberry, Dior, Escada, Ferragamo, Gucci, Halston, Louis Feraud, Rene Lezard , Ungaro, Diane Freis, Walter Voulaz & YSL.  All these labels within a week.  Please tell us your thoughts when I asked you to participate in this special edition blog post….  

A:  I felt flattered that you think my finds are worthy of being blogged about.  I’m happy to share my passion with your readers…

Q:  In a typical week do you normally find this many super fabulous pieces or were all the planets just aligned???  Tell us what is your typical week?  Do you find 2-3 items or do you find 8-10 normally????  

A:  All of the planets must have been aligned because I typically just find 2-3 fabulous pieces   I always start my Saturdays very early, hitting as many garage sales/ yard sales as possible.  I will make a list the night before from the AJC & Craigslist.  Then I might hit a few thrift stores.  Before the end of the day I go to various consignment stores around town, one of course being Doubletake Recycled Luxury , to have them list & sell my pieces.  I don’t like to hold on to things very long, so I get them into stores ASAP.

Q: I know you shop at consignment stores, clothing outlet shops and thrift stores and I believe flea markets. 

A: My pieces mostly come from thrift stores, but equally as much come from yard sales / garage sales.  

Q:  I love all the pieces you found this week Dawn and bought into Doubletake but my favorite piece would have to be the Halston ultra suede belts (2): blue & green.  My second would have to be the Ungaro silk dress.   What are your favorites?  

A:  I would have to say the Halston ultra suede belts and then the Ungaro dress for this week but my all time favorite piece ever is the Thierry Mugler gown.  

I told Dawn that if I could go to Paris to hit all the flea markets I would take her with me because I think we both could do some serious damage and she said ” PARIS lets go!!!  If Dawn and I ever flew to Paris to hit every flea market and vintage second hand store, I’m sure we would pillage that city like never before !
