I recently interviewed Dawn, who has one of the keenest eyes for design, and this is a Special Edition follow up.  Dawn recently found 2 very amazing items: Thierry Mugler & Herve Leger all within a few days of each other.  She texted me photos of the Thierry Mugler gown and my reply was OMG and then she texted me a photo of the Herve Leger dress and my reply was OMG…  So I had to ask her a few questions again so here goes our interview…..

QIn a matter of days you found a gorgeous midnight blue with black velvet trim 80′s Thierry Mugler gown and then you found a black Herve Leger bandage LBD so please describe to my readers those exact moments.  What you thought, what you felt….we want to re-live this through you…

AI kept thinking “I can’t wait to show these great finds to Daniel”… I swear.

Q I’ve had the privilege of finding a few vintage Thierry Mugler casual dresses in my life but nothing like this vintage 80′s gown. Did you automatically realize the scoop of your victory or did it have to soak in for you?  Please elaborate on this…

AI had just found out that Thierry Mugler designed clothing about a week prior to finding this gown and also found out it was collectible.  I thought it was just a perfume brand.  Any how, it was at a salvage store and I couldn’t believe my eyes, it was beautiful.

QI, on the other hand, have never found a Herve Leger bandage dress but to find it in black… Holy Mother of the GODS this is a big score for you where did you find this item?

AThe Herve Leger dress was surprisingly found at Plato’s Closet.  I was in there for Cramapolooza, while I was checking out I saw the dress hanging on the wall behind the cashier.  I asked what brand it was, thinking they would say Bebe or something.  I was so excited when they told me who it was.  I snatched it up right away!

QThe very first place I look when I enter any thrift store is always the dresses.  Where do you first head to when you enter a thrift store??

AI always head for the shoes.  I once found a pair of Louboutin for $20 and sold them for $900 !!!

QI’m aiming to find a 60′s Elsa Schiaparelli gown or even a 60′s Paco Rabanne space age dress.  Having found 2 amazing, collectible and most desirable pieces what’s next on your ultimate wish list?

AIt seems like the items come to me.  I feel if I’m looking for something in particular I won’t find it but if I ever came across some McQueen, that would be wonderful !!!

Given her track record I have no doubt she will find McQueen.  Thank you Dawn for sharing your story with us and for doing your part to get people interested in living and shopping a much “greener” lifestyle.  We as Americans consume way to much, I mean just look at the amount of clothing when you step inside just one Goodwill or Salvation Army.  All those items were donated !  My wish is that we as Americans curb our shopping habits from mall shopping to consignment shopping or thrift shopping, a much more ecologically friendly way to consume!
