There is a danger of a traffic accident, which often has tragic consequences. "The most vulnerable are children and seniors. Children are less concentrated, they can not predict the distance and predict correctly. Seniors are usually not as mobile, they have impaired vision and hearing, and responses to imminent dangers are often slower. Already in 2016, it is the pedestrian's duty to wear reflective vests outside the village for reduced visibility when moving along the edge or the edge of the road.

The police have now checked whether pedestrians and cyclists use these reflective tapes. At the same time, the reflective elements gave them away. "They have checked more than 30 pedestrians," said Lena Popcorn. "One of them, because they did not have the reflective elements and thus endanger road safety, has been awarded a block fine."

Using reflective vests, the contrast to the background increases and extends the distance to which they are visible. The colors are best recognizable white (55 meters) and yellow (at 37 meters). On the contrary, the blue clothing is visible only at 18 meters, while reflective elements up to 200 meters. At 75 km / h, the driver needs about 30 meters to respond. "Reflective tapes are best placed at the end of the sleeves, close to the knees and to the waist level," says Lena Popcorn.
