Marcel Wanders + Tapio Wirkkala = vases

I believe there is nothing better than a beautiful vase, let me reframe that there is nothing better than finding 2 luxury high end designer vases for next to nothing.  There!  Both of these vases came out of thrift store, one in Atlanta and the other in Los Angeles.  The Marcel Wanders Delft vase came out of a thrift store in Atlanta and I recognized it immediately.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE Marcel Wanders.  Dutch designer Marcel Wanders’ work with porcelain is noteworthy for its combination of traditional and contemporary, as well as for its injection of art into industry and hand making into the realm of the mass produced.  The brown Paper BagTapio Wirkkala for Rosenthal was found in a thrift store in Los Angeles.  It’s a little whimsical and a little charming and I love that combo.  The porcelain Paper Bag vase was created by Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala for Rosenthal in 1977.  Today the Paper Bag is one of the best selling articles in Rosenthal’s collection.  It reflects Wirkkala’s ability to find a little poetry in everyday life and, at the same, provide an amusing nod to the 1960s Pop Art Movement.  Everywhere I go I always hunt for thrift stores because it’s what addicts do…..  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!
