The other day I was at some estate sale and I saw the most handsome mens Guy Laroche dress shirt imaginable but when I turned it over saw the biggest stain.  That saddened me but especially since it was my exact size…  what ya gonna do?  Keep shopping is what I say and that logic always pays off because look at this 80s vintage Guy Laroche dress with pockets…  When one door closes another door opens…  I love Guy Laroche and always have.  With the smartest belt on the planet, this vintage Guy Lar

One Sunday my stylish friend Nancy and I hit the thrift store, and hit it hard as usual.  I’m a tag hag for the label Cerruti 1881 so when I found the jacket, you know I grabbed it, put it in the shopping cart and continued shopping.  Moments later Nancy asked “what did you find”???  I showed her the jacket and she said “Daniel earlier in the week I was here and grabbed the matching slacks for this jacket…” I thought she was kidding but when we got back to her lovely home she handed me the match

You should have seen my eyes when they met the ETRO label…..  I couldn’t believe it because I’ve never found this label inside a thrift store until now.  I immediately picked it up and gave it my full inspection and it passed with flying colors but there is one problem.  This gorgeous striped mens shirt is to big for me, so out of the kindness of my heart, I gave it to my partner Mitch to wear and enjoy.  I may have given it to him with a little green with envy in my eyes.   Founded in 1968 by G

I’m going to try to keep this a normal post of about 130-150 words but trust me it won’t be easy.  I found this vintage Bill Blass 70s silk paw print blouse and freaked because I love vintage Blass.  I needed the perfect bottom for this blouse when Nancy and I went shopping and she found these Claude Montana suede 80s pants and then handed them to me….  Yes that’s right she found these gorgeous vintage Claude Montana suede pants and then said “I want you to have these…”  I was speechless and bel

Good GODS almighty will you just look at these gorgeous vintage Pierre Cardin plaid slacks?  These are so over the top hot and chic even today 50 years later.  That’s what I love about good solid design, it’s timeless.  These are thick wool slacks that will keep any women warm, in style, even in the coldest of winter months.  The brown Bally blouse works nicely with these vintage Cardin slacks, it gives it a nice modern feel.  Lets see Bally & vintage Pierre Cardin in one single outfit all I can

Will you just take a look at the details on this LBD by Pierre Cardin?  OMG there is nothing anywhere on this dress that says it’s dated or vintage, nothing.  The lines are as clean as the day this dress was designed.  This is a 70′s disco dress made by France’s iconic fashion designer Pierre Cardin.  Can’t you just see Bianca Jagger  wearing this dress at Studio 54?  I sure can.  She would have just done a line of cocaine in the bathroom with her friend Halston and she would have danced the nig

I can’t think of one single soul on this planet that wouldn’t love a vintage Balenciaga piece.  NOT ONE.  So when I saw this sweet little number, in my size, you know I had to grab it, run to the counter and pay for it.  Balenciaga is considered to be one of the greatest couturier in history, EVER !  He was a master of sketching, cutting, draping and above all creating clothes that would stand the test of time.  Balenciaga did the same shapes from year to year, developing and refining them.  Bal

Right off the bat I’m going to tell you that this white Claude Montana is a man’s shirt!  Yes it’s a man’s shirt and when I found it in the thrift store my eyes popped out.  Not just because of the label but because it just happens to be my SIZE !!!  How lucky is that?  I am the biggest fan of Claude Montana on the face of this planet so when I find anything from this brilliant creative artist, I grab it !  His designs from the 80′s are even hotter today.  He created bold designs, he was futuris

Nina Ricci vintage logo 70s 2 piece iconic…

The thing I find interesting about vintage is the sizing.  This vintage 70′s Nina Ricci 2 piece stunning blouse with skirt is a vintage size 14 but in today’s sizing it’s more like a 6.  The Nina Ricci Weekend label is 70′s and this is a label I just can’t find enough of.  Love vintage Nina Ricci.  The House of Ricci in Paris was set up in 1932 and when she retired from designing in the early 1950′s she was already in her 70′s.  This iconic French label is a pillar of the fashion industry and if

I have no idea who Helen Fabrikant is and I even tried to find her on my favorite resource site called Vintage Fashion Guild and nothing.  That still didn’t stop me from scoring a fantastic vintage blouse now did it?  No because even with a good vintage piece with a label, you know the quality is there.  Quality is everything to me and that’s one reason why I love vintage so much, the quality was so much better then compared to today’s standards.  You could even take a simple dress from Sears fr

I’ve never found a Donald Brooks before so finding a LBD is always the best place to start.  Donald Brooks was an early designer of American sportswear and one of the first to cross over from fashion to make clothes for the theater and movies.  His passion was always for the theater.   He was hand picked by the president of Lord & Taylor to design a collection for the store in the 1950′s.  In 1965 he started his own collection and was backed by the same man who financed Norman Norell, Oscar de l

Versace floral sexy dress is a show stopper…

My eyes completely bulged out of my sockets when I saw the label on this dress.  It was packed so tight in between dresses I had to flight to push back all the dresses but thank goodness I did.  I tell you, you really have to look at everything when you’re shopping in a thrift store because anything could be anywhere!  This dress really does have the WOW factor turned way up, not to mention the sexy factor…  Next time you’re at a thrift store or at a yard or estate sale, leave no stone unturned.

I recently wrote a post that said I wouldn’t be talking about St John anymore unless it was something really spectacular and in this case it’s just that.  When I first spotted this silk, with some stretch,  blouse I fell deeply & madly in love, even after I saw the label.  This rich shade of brown silk is just a no-brainer.  It’s simply gorgeous and elegant on every level possible.  Then when I found these rich red wool slacks by Missoni, I knew instantly that I would pair these 2 items up for a

Adele Simpson started her life out as a child performer in vaudeville dancing with Milton Berle and then she became a fashion designer after she completed her design curriculum at the Pratt Institute.    She introduced medium priced line of clothing in New York in 1949 and adapted the French couture and presented it with an American ready to wear translation.  She won a Coty Award and dressed several First Ladies.  She was very well known in the 70′s & 80′s for designing beautiful dresses and re

Remember recently I got this same exact dress but in red?  Well now I have a green Geoffrey Beene Beene Bag label vintage 70s dress with pockets too!  I swear this is the second time that I have seen the Beene Bag label, it’s such a throw back to the 70s and that whole era of brilliant fashion designs.  I’m a lover of Geoffrey Beene, especially his vintage pieces, because in my humble opinion this man knew how to make a woman feel & look sexy.  Now you might think this dress just hangs there on

I love finding vintage 70′s Oleg Cassini second hand.  LOVE IT.  When I saw this sweet little green sporty dress with pockets and fabulous gold buttons, I just freaked.  This item is so damn hot and contemporary now it isn’t funny.  Oleg Cassini, who designed the dresses that helped make Jacqueline Kennedy the most glamorous First Lady in history.  After John Kennedy was elected, he persuaded Jacqueline to use Cassini as the creator of her total look, rather than one of many designers at that ti

Who in their right mind doesn’t love finding Bally & Valentino?  Just name me one soul on this planet that doesn’t love finding both of these brands second hand?  There isn’t one single thing on both items that make these pieces ‘dated’ or ‘passé’ that’s because we are talking about quality.  Good simple clean lines and quality fabrics will always stand the time test.  Slap on your favorite pair of black vintage leather pants, that you scored from a consignment store, and go paint the town whate

Every now and then I have to reward myself and what better way to reward myself than with a piece of YSL & Givenchy could there be???  This YSL pour homme v-neck shirt still has the string tag hanging from the label, so its a new piece and never worn.  Now the Givenchy slacks are very 80s and not an ounce of natural fibers but that’s ok with me… I can sweat in style.  Both of these colors are so me and colors I wear in the fall so it was a nice treat.  I’m Daniel Troppy your luxury curator!

This is my very first piece of thrift store found Brunello Cucinelli so there goes the cherry !  I almost completely passed out when I saw the label because for years I’ve tried to locate anything from this label and haven’t had any luck.  So thank you Lady Luck !  When I say that this label is expensive you need to multiple that by 10 and then multiple that by another 10 and you’ll get the answer.  It’s super expensive and my dream is one day to find a Brunello Cucinelli mens cashmere sweater a

I love anything vintage Geoffrey Beene, just ask anyone, because he was one of America’s greatest fashion designers. He was born Samuel Albert Bozeman, Jr in Haynesville Louisiana and studied fashion in New York & Paris. He was noted for his unconventional design, but his simple style and muted colors won him 8 Coty Awards before he death in 2004. The Beene Bag label is from the 70′s and of course so are shape of the collar! I love everything about this red silk Beene vintage dress with pockets.
