It really isn’t every day that I not only find a Prada linen jacket but a blousethat matches the color to perfection. Both are from the same thriftstore to boot which makes my work so much easier. I first found theblouse which is by J. McLaughlin button up and here is the story aboutthis brand. Brothers Jay and Kevin McLaughlinopened their first store 32 years ago at 74th Street and 3rd Avenue onNew York’s Upper Ease side. From the moment they opened their doors J.McLaughlin established itself as a classic American brand featuring aflair for bold colors and prints. You can obviously see that with thisblouse. As I continued on my stroll throughout the thrift store I ranmy fingers across the jacket section and ‘voila’ out jumped this skyblue linen Prada 3 button jacket. At this point it’s really hard tocontrol my salivating…after all it’s Prada. After taking over her grandfathers Mario Prada’s Italian leather goodsbusiness in 1978, Miuccia Prada began to change the way people viewedfashion. Every aspect of production – from the buttons of a coat to thedesign of a New York flagship (with the help of architect Rem Koolhaas)– benefits from the careful eye and deliberate study of “Mrs. Prada.” Ilove the fact that I first found the blouse and next came the jacketand both recycled luxury brand items had that same exact shade of skyblue. I hit the nail right on the head or is that vice-versa???
