I recently saw this video  (click to watch) and read that these young workers at these factories are as young as 12 years old and make as much as $32 a month.  They work upwards to 12-14 hours a day, in the worst working conditions known to man, for companies like WalMark, Gap, Old Navy and many others.  There are of course so many of these factories in Bangladesh, Ski Lanka, China etc that don’t have fire exits or even fire extinguishers …  This is a prime example of pure greed and of course another great reason why we all should reconsider NOT shopping at WalMark, Gap, Old Navy and yes even Target for our clothing.  I’m asking you to please consider shopping at thrift stores, consignment boutiques & flea markets for your clothing essentials.  I shop at several thrift stores a week and I see new items, gently used items & vintage items and everything from shirts, blouses, jackets, dresses, shoes and socks.  I’ve built my entire wardrobe with Armani, Brioni, Paul Smith, Burberry, Versace, Dior, Helmut Lang and Zegna, not over night but in due time.  We have to rethink our shopping habits for a more humane and environmentally eco-friendly way to shop today.  The reason so many of these sweat shop factories exist is because of our need for supply. We live in a world where we all want everything now and rarely are we willing to wait and search for second hand items.  Trust me you can build yourself a stylish wardrobe just like me and one that you’ll be proud of because it’s a “greener” way to shop…
