Happy 4th of July the eco friendly way…

When I think about the countless generations of Americans that have fought hard for change and fought to protect this diverse country it’s overwhelming to me.  People have always protected our land for one reason or another and to me what better way to protect this country than to start protecting its natural resources.  Did you know that in 2010 the USA produced more than 13 million TONS of textile waste according to the EPA.  13 million TONS of toxic waste such as bleach, dyes and other harsh chemicals used in the fashion industry not to mention the sweat shop factory labor conditions and if your Tory Burch the lead in her products.   Shopping for my clothing, let me correct that shopping for my luxury clothes, is how I do my part in curbing the textile waste because my clothes are all second hand.  When you buy something from flea markets, thrift stores, estate sales, yard sales etc that item has already been manufactured therefore the waste has already occurred and we have no control over that.  What we do have control over is consumption.  For me protecting our natural resources like our land & water is by shopping ‘green’ because I can’t think of a more patriotic way to show my love for my country than to protect it first.
