I love Hanae Mori and I just about freaked when I saw the label and then when I peaked inside the jacket and saw the original tag still hanging there with a price tag of $500, that’s when I did freak.  Of course I’m dying to find a vintage 70′s silk chiffon gown by Hanae Mori but for now I will happily take this bold floral print jacket and call it a day.  Hanae Mori is a fashion designer born in Japan in 1926.  During the war she had suspend her studies to work, then married a son of a wealthy and successful textile manufacturer.  On holiday in Paris in 1960, Mori had a fateful fitting with Coco Chanel.  She claimed this meeting changed her life and she challenged herself to realise her own dream of designing haute couture.  She returned back to Tokyo.  She is the only Japanese woman to have presented her collections on the runways of Paris & New York, and the first Asian woman to be admitted as an official Haute Couture design House by the Federation Francasise de la Couture in France.  Mori is the Queen of Couture in Japan.  I love putting this bold jacket with this equally bold Rena Lange skirt.  Truly great design never goes out of style and this outfit is a testimonial to that high praise.  I’m Daniel Troppy and I’m your luxury curator!
