FotyMody: Tell about unity of fashion and art.

Moiseev & Dorofeeva: Fashion is fleeting, art isn`t always topical and has commercial context. We think, that many people think in such way. Fashion and art don`t oppose each other, because in both cases an artist/a designer has aim of self-expression, solution of artistic image, where some creative remaking, fresh ideas, desire to create something new are present. Eventually, it`s old philosophical question of “unity and struggle of opposites”, where mutual enrichment and synthesis are important.

FotyMody: Body art in modern art and fashion.

Moiseev & Dorofeeva: If we talk about complete painting of body then we can say that body art is clothing! :) This condition is question of principle for many people, because they don`t feel themselves undressed with body art. Art of decoration of face and body with temporary drawings can be popularized, but you need to avoid banality, amateurishness, vulgarity. Body art is important way of self-expression both for a painter/a designer and for a model. It becomes popular nowadays, because of photo industry development – because in such case it is the final product as a photosession, but not a particular experience of enthusiasts who participate in it. We can explain: body art was just “an applied art” (for a party) or was regarded as portfolio of performer several years ago. Now it goes beyond the scopes of author`s artistic project, it is part of large-scale photo projects, in which stylists, make-up artists, designers, decorators, etc. take part.

FotyMody: Fashion photography as art.

Moiseev & Dorofeeva: Undoubtedly, fashion photography is art, modern photo art, which has its own significant language. Fashion photography is interesting because of its provocativeness, shocking character, and constant aspiration for something new. We can see eclecticism, kitsch, grotesque in fashion photography which can be realized on wide space of author`s fantasy from glamour to punk rock.

FotyMody: Photography as advertising.

Moiseev & Dorofeeva: Of course, photography also can be considered as an element of advertising. There are many examples of using photography as main element in advertising, for example commercial photography, portrait, landscape, and genre. The problem is in not sufficiently serious attitude of some design companies and designers to photo materials. Often they don`t have good photographer and use improvised clip art, sometimes material of low-quality is downloaded from the Internet… Also many designers have inattentive attitude to the retouch and preprinting postproduction of photos.

FotyMody: What will be popular in art/photography in 10-20 years?

Moiseev & Dorofeeva: Probably, people will get tired from manypixel and too “ideal” digital photography, the almost forgotten technologies of getting photos will be more interesting for spectator (for example, daguerrotypy,  talbotype process, collodion process, autochrome Lumière, etc.), these tendencies can be noticed even nowadays. Also we can definitely say that not any of existent genres of photography will disappear. Maybe the technological progress (including 3D photography and holography) will intensify division of photo society to traditionalists and adherents of progressive ideas.
