Dear Mr. Lipop ...

That's So New YorkAfter having a quick flick back through some of my posts, I noticed that despite the fact that I mentioned Lipop London briefly in my recent Bryce Aime post after my meeting with Lipop London Managing Director Eser Aydemir, I had not taken the time to scribble (or in this case type) down something which was dedicated entirely to the label; that's what I now plan to do (if you hadn't already guessed) - Okay, so a quick introduction to the label followed by an outline of the total aesthetic of the design, sounds about right, right? Okay, so first of all I've taken a quick snippet from the official Lipop London website; simply because the writers of the 'About' section got everything spot on and there wasn't too much more that I could add after they captioned "Tom Lipop is an innovative and demiurgic designer looking to utilize his natural creativity and passion for contemporary design through the generation of his own Avant Guarde collections." Alongside this caption I noticed that the word progressive jumped into the text frequently, yet I suppose that is simply another word for both experimental perhaps with a hint of urban, as these are the vibes I've been getting by the bucketload from the entire concept of the label.

The fact that I had the privilege of going along and seeing all of the Fall/Winter 2011 garments and having the opportunity to touch everything and get a real feel for the different materials and things used does help a massive amount in the writing of this post (damn to the fact that I didn't manage to whip out my camera and take a few shots of my own, which is why I resorted to campaign images which Eser kindly sent across) - Another perk as such which I experienced whilst being shown the collection was that Eser allowed me to try on one of the Fall/Winter 2011 coats, which I have to say was a little heavier than expected, not to mention enormous in size seeming it was one of the model-coats which the 10,000ft (slight exaggeration) models managed to slip into (honestly, lots of giggles here as I looked like a gnome, or perhaps a Smurf without the delights of blue skin or even a nappy.)

8842937092?profile=originalThe campaign for this collection was by far one of my favorite, simply because it was entirely fitting to the aesthetic of the label and the collection itself, hence the fact that the label has an urban-type feel and the the location itself defines urban; I mean, caged run-down basketball courts and city-landscapes, can you think of anywhere better? The model compliments the label enormously, shining an admirable light over each and every piece with his Indie-type personae; reminding me a little of someone you may see rockin' out at V festival or perhaps Reading, whilst obtaining a ...
