Dawn is indeed a thrifter extraordinaire when it comes to passionately searching for luxury.  At any given day of the week I will receive texts from  Dawn showing me items she has just found or is looking at and I can’t tell you just how exciting that is….  That type of inner passion and constant drive reminds me so much of me… always looking ahead and relishing the victory briefly because we know there is so much more out there.  Dawn scours thrift stores, outlet clothing shops and consignment boutiques looking for luxury bargain deals.  Dawn recently found 2 fabulous items from Balenciaga and I just had to throw some questions her way… so here goes…

Q:  When  you recently found the white Balenciaga skirt, I wanted to do a blog posting but when you found the second Balenciaga item within a week of each other well I just had to ask you a few questions.   Please tell my readers about what went through your head when you found not one but two Balenciaga items within a relatively short amount of time….  Step by step take us through your experience…  Where you at a flea market, thrift store, outlet clothing shop or consignment boutique???

A:  My mom actually took me to this little treasure of a thrift store.  After looking awhile, and not seeing anything I was starting to get bummed until I went to the last rack and found the Balenciaga skirt!  It was a steal at $5 then was told it was 1/2 OFF (OMG, $2.50 for BALENCIAGA !!!)  The pants I found were from a different thrift store.  I looked at the pants rack last and I was actually looking for myself.  I’m on the floral print jean kick.  Needless to say the pattern on these jumped out at me.  When I saw the label I couldn’t believe my eyes.  I was going to keep them for myself but unfortunately they didn’t fit.  DUMMER.

Q:  The only Balenciaga item I’ve ever found was a vintage mens shirt that I wear proudly but never have I found a Balenciaga women’s item…. Your two items are not vintage Balenciaga but since you’re on a roll with finding this luxury brand what would you like your very first vintage piece to be from this label?  A dress???  A gown??  From what era: 30′s, 40′s, 50′s or 60′s?

A:  I need to do a little more research on this designer, I didn’t realize it went as far back as the 30′s.  It would be exciting to find a 1930′s dress from Balenciaga.  I should say what you do Daniel by putting the positive energy out there is like “The Secret”….

Q:  Balenciaga opened his couture house in 1937 and my dream is to find one of his gowns from the late 30′s and I think I would probably pass out from the excitement of finding such a treasure.  My gut is telling me that you might find a rare vintage piece before I do and I would be so thrilled for you Dawn.  How do you think you might react to finding such a treasure???

A:  I would probably do the same as you Daniel and pass out from the sheer excitement.  I’m taking a road trip to Hilton Head, so you never know what I just might find there….

What I love about Dawn is even on a road trip she’s hunting for thrift stores, flea markets, clothing outlet stores and consignment boutiques…  Years ago after I just met my partner Mitch, we took a trip to the island of Bermuda and given that island is only 21 miles long, I found all 3 thrift stores!!!!  No matter where I go, I’m always in search of finding a treasure and so I wish Dawn all the luck in the world on her trip to Hilton Head and can’t wait to see what she finds.  Knowing Dawn it will be something spectacular …
