The best thing about my life is not only The Thrifters blog but it’s my store called Doubletake Recycled Luxury.  I wrote the blog which lead me to opening Doubletake Recycled Luxury Boutique but I love meeting people and hearing their stories.  I hear stories all day long about particular pieces and I really want to share this one with you….  The kindest gentlest soul on the planet is the lady that owns this Chanel gown.  Her name is Cheryl and back in 1985 she needed the perfect dress for an event at The Plaza Hotel and when she was walking through the Chanel store in Atlanta a saleswoman said “you have got to try this gown on”.  Well she tried it on and then walked out with it.  It was perfection.   It’s a size 6 but today I would say it’s more like a zero or two, but more like a zero.  Cheryl flew to NYC for a Russian benefit at The Plaza Hotel and wore this gorgeous Chanel black ball gown and it stopped traffic on the streets.  Literally stopped traffic in the streets….  She recalls that magical long night to me in great detail and I just set there listening and absorbing every syllable.  Knowing the story to this dress is very important, it’s essential actually.  That’s the thing I love about doing consignment at Doubletake because I’m able to hear the history of a certain piece and you can only really get that from shopping at consignment stores and yes this piece is for sale.  When I’m out thrifting and find something really grand I always wonder what is the history was with this particular piece…..   You know Inquiring Minds want to know….  I’m Daniel Troppy your luxury curator with a gorgeous Chanel ball gown waiting for you!
