This vintage pink leather skirt by Genny is the softest leather I’ve ever felt in my life and I just keep thinking to myself how lucky I am to have found this in the thrift store. I have always been a huge fan of Genny and I remember it well from the my early Dallas days in the early 80′s. This brand was EXPENSIVE… and I mean EXPENSIVE….. along the way I have gobbled up a few pieces from Genny but nothing as soft and elegant as this pink leather sexy as hell skirt. Genny was founded in Italy by Arnoldo and Donatella Girombelli in 1961 after their first child. As an early protagonist of the “made in Italy” label, Genny assumed a leading role during the 1970′s when the Italian fashion industry took its first step towards becoming a serious competitor with French ready to wear fashion. Dolce & Gabbana designer under this label in the 80′s. From my research it looks like the last collection for this brand was done by Josephus Thimister for their Fall 2000 collection. Always keeps your eyes peeled for this Genny made in Italy while out thrifting because I could bet that whatever you found would be very STYLISH even today. I put this pink leather skirt with a cute BCBG top and brand new BCBG shoes.This leather is so soft I keep thinking maybe I’ll use the leather to make pink leather pillows which I think would be STYLISH, but I can’t seem to get over the hump of cutting this vintage piece up…. all items on my blog are for sale please contact me if interested in anything and when in Atlanta please stop by my boutique doubletake.
