Students to present annual apparel design show

The Department of Design and Merchandising at Colorado State University will present its annual student apparel design show, "Framing Fashion: The Final Cut," at 7 p.m. Monday, March 30 and Tuesday, March 31. The show will be held in the Main Ballroom of the Lory Student Center on the Colorado State campus.Organic, sustainable fabricsThis year's show features apparel designs from upper-level students enrolled in an undergraduate capstone course and a graduate apparel design course. Undergraduate students will present their work in nine apparel lines including wedding party and resort wear lines, and a casual dress line created from organic and sustainable fabrics.The show also features wearable art from students in the graduate course, which emphasizes textile techniques such as knitting, crocheting, felting and free-form embroidery underscored by the use of a theoretical framework in the design process.Students in the apparel design and production concentration develop skills in trend forecasting, illustration, hand pattern drafting, and computer-aided textile and apparel design on Lectra software, commonly used in the apparel industry.
