Into The Void

That's So New YorkDespite the fact that on Sunday over here in England we grabbed our first glance at what surprisingly seeming to be a reasonable summers day with temperatures hitting the mid 20s and borderline 30s, I still managed to sit indoors all day looking through an outstanding number of designer works until I found something which truly grabbed my eye; what can I say, I'm one of them teenagers who likes to use "IT'S TOO HOT!" as an excuse not to get off of the couch, yet instead sit and drink my day away (with coffee .. no alcoholic beverages here) and eat sausage rolls until my stomach almost explodes (with good reasoning of-course, the parents had just returned from a trip to the supermarket and let's just say, sausage rolls are good.) - That reminds me, perhaps I should whip my bike out of the shed sometime and at least make an attempt at decreasing the size of this belly which has continued to grow and grow since my teachers uttered the words "study leave." (god damn you.)

Moving on from my frivolous complaining in regards to the heat (despite the fact that I have to say, I really do admire the Winter months and the gracious snowy weather, *huff*) - whilst sifting through youngbritishdesigners.com (an Online-Store where some of Britains best up-and-coming designers retail, including the likes of Atalanta Weller and David Longshaw) I came across Alice Palmer, (who apparently is already the talk of the town) a knitwear designer who originally studied in Glasgow, later moving down to London to study at the Royal College of Art (from 2005 to 2007) finally launching her label in 2008 (she sounds like a busy bee, if you ask me.) I have to say, the one fact which surprised me is that Alice has already been awarded the Best Womenswear Designer award during New York Fashion Week. Following Palmer's Spring/Summer 2011 collection Fossil Warriors is her most recent Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, Into The Void where a variety of patch-type pieces of material have been sewn together to create an urban-type appeal whilst creating a sort of thrown together look by sewing pieces of fabric which look almost like off-cuts onto each dress, creating an "I've just been dragged through a hedge backwards and I accidentally ripped my dress" illusion (in the best way possible of-course.)
