1. Washing

There’s a misconception that wigs can’t be washed (especially the synthetic types) or washing these could weaken the grip of the hair on the mesh inside and may result in shedding. That’s not true at all. Wigs can be and should be washed as using dirty wigs may cause other allergy-related or skin-related problems. Just a few tips to be followed and you will have your wig as clean as a new one.

First. Detangle your wig using a wide-toothed comb. Don’t apply force and take a bunch of strands at a time. Start from ends and work toward the root to decrease shedding.

Take lukewarm water in a mug and pour it slowly on the wig. Do not soak the wig as this may result in tangles.

Rinse the wig using lukewarm water. Use a towel to remove the excess water.

Further, wigs need to be kept hydrated as oils from the scalp hydrate natural hair. Use a leave-in conditioner to hydrate your hair. This also helps protect hair prior to any heat styling.

4. Styling

If you use a synthetic wig, make sure that you do not opt for styles that require heat treatment. The slightest of exposure to heat may damage the fibres of the synthetic hair-wig. If you like to carry different hair-styles every day, then choosing a human-hair wig is a better option. These can sustain heat and hence you may try out as many hair-styles as you want
