This Year's Wedding Makeup And Hair Trends

Your big day is approaching fast, and you are starting to think more about making your grand entrance and gliding serenely down the aisle. With all eyes upon you, the aisle can be seen as being your own personal catwalk.

You already have the perfect bridal gown, so now it is time to decide on your hair and makeup to compliment your overall look. This year's favourite bridal beauty looks coming from the runways are favouring some seriously pretty and whimsical themes, with more than a touch of romanticism both with hair and makeup.

The buzzword for 2016 wedding hair and beauty is 'all-natural', with top designers such as Jenny Packham, Amsale and Oscar de la Renta emphasising that less is more. Tinted moisturiser and a light application of rosy blush that lets your natural beauty shine through are in. Luscious lashes and nude or pink lips tops this year's look off to perfection.

Gone are heavy foundation, thick eyeliner and dramatic lips. This year is all about dewy skin, and romantic bohemian locks. The runways at bridal fashion shows the world over showcased a lot of boho vibes running through collections for this season, with ethereal and flowery gowns, hair and makeup.

Bridal hair trends this year lean towards locks being worn long and loose, with side strands being pulled back, and worked into subtle braids and romantic waves pinned with delicate flowers. The overall look aiming to be feminine, romantic, wistful and carefree. For brides wanting an up-do for their big day, top designers were featuring loose layered braids with wispy face-framing strands, or soft side-swept fishtail braids.

The romantic and enchanting princess look is enhances with whimsical braids as featured at Reem Acra this season. Centre partings with cascading braids, pearlescent beads and tiny flowers woven throughout to create an effortlessly pretty look to your hair.

To compliment this wistful feel, pastel shades of makeup paired with a healthy summer glow to the skin really finishes the look. Lightly flushed cheeks with pale rose blush and pink fresh-bitten lips touched with a light coat of gloss helps to achieve this all-natural, pretty look.

Make up artists recommend you start with clean, exfoliated and moisturised skin, followed by a light tinted moisturiser to help even out skin and hide any blemishes. A light dusting of blush should be swept over the apples of your cheeks to give your skin a healthy flush. Nude lips with the lightest hint of pink should be added to finish off the rosy effect.

Brows should be bold and well defined, and the looks that is making a comeback this year are akin to likes of Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Brooke Shields.  Supermodel Cara Delevingne has shown the way for modern brides this year, and designers like Monique Lhuillier, Reem Acra and Theia embraced the trend for their collections for this year.

Makeup artists recommend that you fill in the brows to get the shape you want before applying a light powder over the top to fix the look. Having strong brows helps add some definition to the overall natural and summery look of wedding makeup this year.
