Styling Lessons, With Paul Smith

8842911880?profile=originalThat's So New YorkFor his Spring/Summer 2011 show, Paul Smith delivers a flawless collection, mixing androgyny and feminine confidence. He told the story of a rockabilly woman, whose expertise in looking incredibly sharp and savvy was the means to make it in the professional world. Buttoned up shirts and tailored pants made it easy to fall in love with these amazing outfits, with a possible resemblance to Kate Blanchett’s character in the biographic film I'm not thereLoose polka dot ties and colorful belts introduced a sleek element to this intrepid rock tale. The whole ensemble matched amazingly: from the messy ducktail-like hairstyle to the semi-transparent shoes. The trendy sunglasses and the rolled-up sleeves stated a modern appeal, which was completed with a natural and stunning make-up choice. But it wasn’t all about suits; there was also an ethereal theme in the shape of spectacular silk and chiffon pieces. To top things up, the collection featured a wavy pattern inspired by a painting that was given to Smith as a gift, and floral prints that looked as smartly chic as never. On the whole, the show was remarkably trendy and, quoting the designer, ‘Classic with a twist’.
