The most frequent reason for the accident: children do not pay attention to traffic, they suddenly cross the street and are often seen too late by the driver. To make schoolchildren more visible to other road users on their way to school, the AOK Directorate Amberg equips all first graders of the Rupert Egenberger School with reflective safety throws.
"Children are among the weakest of all road users, they are particularly vulnerable and we want to make our contribution to a safe and accident-free way to school," said Christa Siegler, Director of the AOK Directorate Amberg. The AOK cooperates with the action with the traffic control Bavaria. Together, they set themselves the goal of increasing road safety for schoolchildren. "Promoting traffic safety and avoiding traffic accidents - that is our claim and the safety throws make a significant contribution to this", says Gernot Schötz from the Amberg watchdog. The safety throws are distributed to the Abc shooters at 225 special schools throughout Bavaria. In the next school year, the AOK and the Landesverkehrswacht Bayern will provide the reflective safety vests to not only the special needs schools but all Bavarian elementary schools.
