“Fashion illustration is the best way for me to artistically gratify myself. But before starting fashion illustration you should “learn”. For example, I designed handbags, clothing, small leather goods, children's accessories and even teddy bears. In all of my designer positions I communicated my ideas through illustrations and sketches quickly so they could be reproduced in factories under tight deadlines. I loved seeing my designs come to life, but when dealing with manufacturing, you have to design almost six months in advance, and then wait awhile to see the result. And this result isn`t your illustrations but its interpretation! What I enjoy most about fashion illustrating is that every job or assignment is different and the turn-around time is usually short. For instance, this week I illustrated three different assignments, a five page fashion runway story, a portrait of a comedian and a magazine website thumbnail. And in less than a month, I will see those illustrations featured in their magazines and online. This is very gratifying as an artist to see my work, my paints that became “fashion paintings”, – Missy McCullough, fashion illustrator, http://www.imissyyou.com/, USA, for FotyMody. com.
