Fabulous Summer Hair secrets!

I love Fridays! the working week is over, I can wake up late tomorrow and go to the beach, have some drinks, go shopping....aaaah total glory. But you know what's better than a Friday?... a good hair day on a Friday!!!!Yesterday was one of those not-so-good days...you know the type of day when you want to throw the computer out the window, burn the closet because you can't find anything to wear and use a sharpie to do your own highlights... not a good day at all.So, before having a "serenity now!" moment I decided to disconnect early and go pamper myself at Enrique Salon. Don't you love the salon? The smell of hairspray, the soothing music, the collection of magazines, the head massage...aaaaah... add a glass of bubbly and a chocolate cupcake... I was in heaven! Two hours later the angry monster was transformed into a glowing princess who loves everything and everyone, sings with little birds and squirrels and is absolutely delightful... the sad thing is that eventually I will have to shampoo and wash away all the glory... oh poo! What can I do to protect my newly colored locks from the evil UV rays? … Fear no more hunters, Kiehl's has come to the rescue!!! Hurray we are saved!! With their Color Preserving hair care line I no longer fear my hair will look like a pile of hay by the end of the summer. Their formula is a concoction of apricot oil and sunflower seed oil, with high levels of vitamins B and E, moisturizing fatty acids and a UV-protective filter, so it protects as it repairs damaged strands... total double duty! I love it!But of course, like everything else, products can only do so much. To keep your color looking rich all summer long, I found these additional precautions you can take:1. After coloring, wait at least one full day to shampoo your hair. This will give time to the hair shaft to repair itself from the treatment.2. Hot showers are the best, but unfortunately it isn’t very good for the skin or hair, so instead shampoo gently with a color-safe product using lukewarm water.3. I love to catch some UVs but the reality is that too much exposure is awfully damaging, so if you are going to be outside for a while try wearing a hat or scarf to protect your hair. Sun exposure can break down color molecules and dry out the hair shaft, making hair color look dull.4. Before dipping into the pool, wet hair with chlorine free water first. Chemically treated hair is more absorbent and water will protect the hair shaft from absorbing too much chlorine, which can be drying and turn your hair green...yuk!Always remember that there is no better accessory than a fabulous hair style!XOXOThe Style Hunter
