Alexis Mabille Spring/Summer 2011

That's So New York - Alexis Mabille offers us a very luxurious and classy, yet always elegant collection this Spring/Summer 2011. The main theme seems to be based on what appears to be a minimalist contrast between a pleasent light and a strong darkness, as each outfit appears to consist of only all-white and reflective shades as well as darker thunderous tones. It's like being inside a maze built of tones and contrasts, sometimes working together yet occasionally repelling each-other, mixing both light and dark. What varies is not so much the form, but rather the clothes nuances, so luxurious and feminine, made of large, flowing lines, with rich and embroidery fabrics. The lightness of the fabrics is emblematic: the fact the trailing robes while walking fills with air and moves sinuously recreating a feeling of fluidity, dynamism and great sensuality. I think the theme of contrasts is very interesting and guessed especially for a Spring/Summer collection, which is highlighted the most of the daylight hours brightness topics with all the shadows that are derived, and the strong and clear dark starry night. - Contributor - Maria Clelia Scuteri
