Are Vests in Style?

Image from TJ Maxx 2008. When asking if vests are in style, it is important to be clear in regard to gender or age. Actually, although it may not be politically correct, I am going to toss ones "weight" into the equation (if you are a fat man and you plan to wear a vest, please wear a shirt under your vest). In my opinion, children's vests are always in style. Kids simply look cute in vests. That is all their is to it. Men on the other hand, will not always look good in a vest. Some men look stylish in vests and others simply do not. Sure, put a handsome male model in a vest, and he will look good. But lets concider the average man. Certainly they should not wear a vest unless it happens to be in trend at that moment in time (I am not here to tell you if that time is now or not...)

Although a vest may be in style for women, it may not be in style for men during the same period of time. When reading the fashion magazines or fashion blogs, be certain to pay attention to gender comments. Just because a fashionista states vests are hot at the moment, this does not mean it is in trend for you. Make sure to read the fine print... Do not skip over the part that discusses whether or not it is a Women's Vest or a Men's Vest that is hot this season. Also, make certain to judge yourself. Just because vests may be in vogue, does not mean that they look good on you. Who cares if it looks good on others? Does a vest look good on YOU? That is what matters.
