3.1 Phillip Lim: Fall/Winter 2011

8842897289?profile=originalThat's So New York - Since 2003, when Phillip Lim first launched his line, he has been amongst the most talented, inspiring designers and his Fall 2011 collection proved once again that he knows what women want to wear and he never fails to deliver. While many designers this season are channeling the ’90s or the ’70s, Lim presented a collection that was less referential and more modern, reflecting the style of a chic woman in the 21st century.

Always looking for wearable yet fashionable clothing that is not priced in the stratosphere, Lim’s line stands out with its pretty, floaty dresses, tailored jackets and coats, and attention to detail. Moreover, he chooses to play with materials for strong, textured outerwear: Some had leather sleeves, others fur pockets, and a buttonless trench closed with a narrow fur belt. Accessories, such as colored leather totes, clutches, and sexy metallic stilettos, were similarly covetable. He constantly tries to balance functional-looking athletic and utilitarian elements into a chic fall urbanite wardrobe.

“A refinement that’s a bit classic in attitude but imparts a sense of individual style, without looking or feeling forced. Confident, unidentifiable, chic, and most of all effortless.” were the designers words for this collection. I strongly believe that Phillip Lim is certainly considered a master when it comes to form and function within his designs.
