A dream in the making for ten years, Heist opened its doors in the summer of 2004 during the height of the Abbot Kinney neighborhood renaissance. Once a sleepy passage through Venice, "The Street," as Abbot Kinney Boulevard is known, is today a thriving contemporary arts district rich with historic lore & one-of-a kind shops, cafes, galleries and studios just a few blocks off Venice Beach. "There's not another street like this anywhere else in L.A. It has a New York SOHO feel to it. Very liberal, very hip," Ghodsi affirms. "It fits well with my concept and my clientele." With blatant disregard for fashion trends, the mantra is 'Stock Only What You Absolutely Love and Only What You'd Absolutely Wear.' For Ghodsi, it's working. "When I buy, it's always 'one for me, three for the store,' only a handful of the best of the best. Once they sell out, they're gone. These are things you won't find everywhere." Elusive. Edgy. Eclectic. That's Heist. It's the edgy vibe and upbeat ambiance fused with a dozen personal touches that attracts the artist, the professional, the hip and the ageless to Heist. It appeals to the trendy and inspires the trendsetters. Utilizing the original brick walls and concrete floors of an old world atelier, Nilou designed a loft to accommodate a second level for a comfortably minimalist interior space that is at once modern and warm. From the rolling shelves to the Lucite racks, each table, shelf and bench in Heist was personally designed by her. Heist is kid-friendly and dog-friendly too.
