Evolution of Makeup Airbrush

Airbrush make up was first used in the epic movie of 1922, “Ben Hur”. At that early time the make up artists needed to apply make up to a huge cast of actors and extras.
Its revival started slowly in some early and more resent sci-fi films. It is used to enhance many alien characters, prosthetic make up. In the mid 70’s airbrush face painting emerged as a popular art form that leaked slowly into Hollywood studios. It was first seen in the hair and beauty trade shows bal masque completions. Since that time in the early 80’s it seems like everyone and their second cousin has jumped on board with classes, products and styles. Temporary tattoos, conventional make up, fantasy make up, Bodyart, fingernails hair and even airbrush tanning are some of the styles being used today.

This is the future wave of make up. Airbrush was the buzz word everywhere at The Make up artists trade show last year in Pasadena, California. It seemed that every other exhibitor had airbrush demos going. In Fact 2 out of the three Avant-garde make up contest competitor winners used airbrush .

Airbrush make up will last the whole day. It creates a virtually flawless look, blends beautifully and feels like your not wearing makeup at all. All colors are FDA approved, are fully hypo allergenic and safe to use. The application can be adjusted to be very soft and light or heavier to cover tattoos, freckles, birthmarks etc.

Once you have mastered the techniques you will have an advantage over the make up artists that don’t use the airbrush. It will expand your creative abilities beyond the sponge and hand brush techniques. You will be amazed at the accuracy and speed of each application.
Add a small amount of Foundation to your airbrush and apply evenly on the face for flawless finish. Product may be thinned with pure water for a more sheer finish
It has come a long way since then.
