Women: Why You Shouldn't Be Embarrassed of Hair Loss

Ask most women, and they will admit that a good hair day means everything as in a boost to self-confidence, physical appearance, and being prepared for the day ahead. Yet, a lot of women experience hair loss, and it can affect their self-esteem and participation in social events. Hair loss should not be an embarrassment because there are promising solutions to consider.

Even Celebrities Are Affected

Talk show host Ricki Lake began sharing her hair loss journey to the public a year ago, and she says she kept her battle hidden for some 30 years prior. One day, she had her head shaved and showed it to the world on her Instagram page.

Lake was frustrated and embarrassed about her increase in hair loss, which she attributed to crazy diets, chemical hair coloring habits, genetics, and hormones, so she removed all of her hair and proudly went about her life.

About a year later, stress-free, and finally, Lake is seeing thick, silver hair growing in.

Iconic model Naomi Campbell is another famous woman who suffered tremendous hair loss after constant wearing of hair extensions on the runway. Her issue was unique in that the faux hair caused tugging and pulling on her scalp resulting in traction alopecia, a form of hair loss caused by extensive stress on the hair follicles.

It Is Okay To Seek Treatment

Why suffer in silence, but many women do because hair is such an important facet of who they are and who they present themselves to the world.

Many females don't talk about it, try to hide their thinning hair, and don't believe that there are any sound solutions.

Most dermatologists agree that you should seek treatment if you are feeling that your hair loss is affecting your life. Today, there have been tremendous advancements in the science of hair restoration to look into.

You are not alone. In fact, dermatologists note that about 40 to 45 percent of women by the age of 50 are noticing some thinning.

Sitting down with a skincare expert is a good idea because they are aware of the latest hair growth treatments and your unique hair profile. A specialist can examine your scalp, do blood work and help you determine the best course of action.

Hair Therapy That Delivers Results

When it comes to hair regrowth, you want a system based on real science and one that is safe, simple, painless and effective to use. Low-level light therapy (LLLT) is one such amazing, modern solution, and the proof that it works can be found in studies at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). It appears to help those women and men who are not responsive or are not tolerant to standard treatments.

A laser hair growth cap, for example, uses LLLT to promote thicker hair, to stimulate cell growth and to get hair follicles to super-charge. It's hands-free, discreet, and the system is designed to fit into any standard ball cap.

Biotin Supplements, Yes Or No?

There's been a lot of talk for decades about the role of a hair growth pill, and the supplement known as biotin often figures into the recipe. However, scientists appear to be mixed on biotin's effectiveness for hair regrowth. Some say it works, and others say it really doesn't.

Biotin is a B vitamin that has been helpful to some women and men in stopping hair shedding and hair loss. Fans say that the vitamin encourages thick hair that grows fast and helps stop hair breakage. It is often touted across social media as a glamorous and easy way to spark healthy hair and nail growth. Chewable biotin gummies are one popular method of taking the hair growth pill.

There is limited evidence to suggest biotin can provide a benefit to hair and nail growth. Some dermatologists call biotin pills a waste of money, but some women add the supplement to their daily routine and say it helps.

If you are a woman and are suffering from hair loss, you have a variety of options to consider. It is not easy dealing with hair that is shedding or breaking, but today's significant advances in hair regrowth are worth trying.
