It’s not always easy to know when to call a plumber. Many homeowners are quite capable of completing basic plumbing projects, especially with the assistance that online guides and video tutorials can provide.

There are some projects, however, that should only be handled by a licensed plumber. Even some jobs that appear easy are best left to someone with experience and formal training. You will save time, trouble, and in many cases money by calling a licensed professional plumber for these types of projects.

The building or Other Permits Required: Any time a local building permit is required it’s wise to hire a licensed plumber. In general, things like significant bath remodeling projects, moving existing water supply or drain lines, or major kitchen projects will typically require permits. A licensed plumber will be familiar with the permit application process and relevant building codes. A licensed plumber will also be responsible for ensuring all required inspections are completed successfully.

Main Line Problems: Anytime there is a problem with either the main water supply line or the main sewer line it’s wise to call a plumber. These issues usually require specialized equipment that most homeowners don’t have typically. While it’s possible to rent this equipment, it is not recommended. Weekend do-it-yourselfers simply don’t have the required experience that a trained plumber has using heavy-duty tools.

Gas Line Issues: For obvious reasons, any type of problem with a gas line must be handled by a licensed professional. It’s simply not worth your safety and the safety of your family to treat a gas line issue as a do-it-yourself project. Professional plumbers are trained in the latest safety techniques and have the right tools to complete the job quickly and correctly the first time.

Serious Drain Clogs: When a clogged drain isn’t cleared using simple everyday techniques like commercial drain cleaners, plungers, or basic plumber’s snake, it’s time to call a professional. Serious clogs could involve the main sewer line or multiple parts of your plumbing system. Plumbers have the equipment and experience to diagnose and solve these complex problems.

Persistent Problems: Finally, any problem that reoccurs or gets worse even when you’ve given it your best shot is a prime candidate for a pro. In fact, when professional plumbers are called in early, there experience can prevent additional problems and actually save you money in the long run.

When in doubt, call a professionally trained, licensed plumber. Most plumbers will provide you with written estimates, and the best tradespeople guarantee their work. What’s the most important thing a professional plumber can provide? Peace of mind. It’s always better to be safe than sorry!

I always call a plumber when there are even minor damages. I always get stressed if something brokes so it is better to call a plumber. I usually reach a professional plumber that works alone instead of a company specialized in this. It is a money saver and sometimes the job is done better. In most cases, plumbers are a godsend! They deal with many issues and always do that hard work. Besides, did you know that there are special programs on how to become a plumber, which I think is nice and helpful for people that want better knowledge in this domain?

For me, it is pretty clear when to call a plumber.
In case you need to change something, or in case you notice a leak.
Of course, you should call a plumber if you had a plumbing accident.
Anyway, I wouldn't suggest you wait for the situation when you will need a plumber, as in such a situation you won't have time for searching and reading. Instead, you can find a reliable plumber right now.
At least I did so, and it helped me when I had a plumbing accident.
Then, I knew I have the contact number of a company that provides plumbing services.
In case you would like to know what company I am talking about, check their site
