Every year around this time, right before it hits the Fall, we go through how many of the 10 Wardrobe Classic Staples you have in your closet (click here for last year's post).

This year is no different. I have everything on the list except for a suit (I still don't own one...don't judge me lol). For this post, I decided to pick different colors, patterns, and textures so you could see what your options are as far as expanding your wardrobe.

Here are my picks from the Wardrobe Classic Staples:

1. Trench coats

2. (White) collared shirts

3. Stilettos

4. Turtlenecks

5. Knee-length skirts

6. Dark-rinse jeans

7. Blazers

8. Little (Black) Dresses

9. (Black) Slacks

10. Suits

In this list, your items don't have to be as simple as black and white, and it definitely does NOT have to be one texture or pattern. Great news for me because I am a sucker for colors, patterns and textures (how boring would fashion be without any of this!) Besides, that gives your closet range and you would be able for you to pull off certain trends (like colorblocking -- that has heavily taken over in the Summer and continues to do so in the Fall) without having to purchase extra items.

The suit is just as important, and I will definitely invest in one. It's just hard for me to go out and specifically shop for a suit because I (personally) would rather wear suit separates -- but I know that a whole suit is definitely worth the investment.

I show you the classic staples every year because they are absolute MUST HAVES; plus, trends come and go but classics are forever...ever. And we all know that TRENDS START FROM CLASSIC PIECES. So why not buy the necessities first? However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't have some trendy items in your closet. With that said, you could mix and match trendy clothes with classics so you could expand the the items in your closet even more.

(FYI: Stay tuned to see future posts on how to add classics with trends.)

What do YOU have in your closet on the list? What's on your list of things to buy?
