While you are on seventh heaven moving into a new and exciting phase of life, there are a few things that do keep you a little worried. One of those things is what to pack for your trousseau. As a newly-wed you will be required to attend a lot of post wedding functions that might include invitations to lots of dinners, gatherings, pujas and the likes.

So for all these functions you will require a handful of ethnic wear and with our little help dressing up for occasions like such would become a tad bit easier.

Here’s what we suggest you must include in your trousseau

• Sarees
  If you love wearing sarees then it is your time to drape those gorgeous six yards of fabric and shine on bright. Make sure you buy different types of sarees that include a few heavy embroidered ones for festivals and a few light embellished ones to grace social occasions. Six to eight sarees might be perfect for your trousseau depending on how often you like to wear sarees.

• Anarkali gowns
  Floor length anarkali gowns can work pretty well at cocktail dinners or other formal events. You can go for two to three such pieces, one heavy and others dressy but not OTT. They are very much in trend and can be your go-to outfit when in dilemma.

• Indo-western
  There will be lot of times you will be interacting with your spouse’s friends and for that young and trendy vibe an indo-western outfit would be a perfect wear. Crop tops with skirts, cape gowns, one-piece gowns, draped sarees, the options are galore!

• Heavy salwar kurta sets
  For those first year functions that will keep you so busy you will require quite a few heavy duty salwar kurtas. Go for embroidered kurtas with palazzos, pants, churidars to keep changing your style. Seven to ten sets would be ideal to add in your trousseau.

• Readymade blouses
  We all have blouses in neutral shades that we wear with our mom’s sarees. And it’s time you add on to that blouse collection. Invest in four to six readymade blouses in different colours and styles that can be mixed and matched with your saree collection or even your mom in laws.

• Kurtis for regular wear
  Have guests over at your place. Team up those smart kurtis with leggings or jeans or palazzos and you are all set to entertain. Everyone wants to meet the newlyweds and for you to keep it stylish always invest in some good ten odd kurtis in different styles so you just mix and match and are ready in a jiffy.

• Variety of dupattas

          Phulkari, brocades, tie and dye, chanderis…invest in beautiful dupattas that can oh so easily add extra glamour to any simple outfit. Match your heavy dupatta with a kurti and you have a dressy outfit right there. Just about three to four amazing dupattas can do the trick.

• Semi-formal kurtas
  Add some silk, jute, crepe and georgette kurtas for those semi-formal dinner invitations. Team them up with pants, palazzos or leggings and some beautiful accessories and you are good to go. Pick up five to seven stunning semi-formal kurtas for not so formal occasions.

• Skirts and jackets
  To add variety to your trousseaus and your look go in for long skirts with jackets. Ghagra skirt with an embellished top would look so elegant and pretty on a newlywed. Just pick up one or two depending on how well you like them.

• Casual salwar kurta sets
  If you like wearing salwar kurta on daily basis then there isn’t any limit on how many should your pick. Take you call on this one but we suggest seven to ten sets so you don’t need to go shopping for a while just after the wedding.
