Commuting into London can be stressful, so we’re here to introduce a few tips to make it more comfortable! From what to wear to some hacks to help you get some peace and quiet, even the smallest of changes can make a big difference to how you feel. So, let’s get into it and help you to transform your commute. 

 

Wear Flat Shoes

First up, it’s so important that you wear flat shoes. Whether you walk the whole way, jump on or off the tube or you just walk part of it, wearing flat shoes is important. They provide better stability and grip, and long term they protect your feet. This might sound really simple but it can make all the difference to your commute. 

Choose Your Bag Carefully

Another thing to consider is choosing your bag carefully! You don’t want a really heavy bag, one that is too big, one that can easily be opened from the back by other people, or one that is uncomfortable. If the tube or your mode of transport is busy, the last thing you want is to find it difficult to move around or if it causes you problems. Plus, you need to consider the risk of someone opening your bag. 

In our opinion, a slim backpack that has a variety of different pockets, and has the ability to lock at the top, is ideal. Make sure that you have everything out that you will need for your commute, like your oyster card for example, then everything else that is valuable can be locked in your bag. You should also ensure that you’re careful with what you’re packing in your bag, such as only choosing the essentials and if you carry toiletries, getting mini versions from your local drugstore to save space. 

Again, these things might seem simple, but they can make a big difference to your everyday commute. 

Walk Part Of The Way

If you find the commute stressful, one of the best things you can do is to walk part of the way. If you don’t like being on the tube, get off a couple of stops before you usually would and walk the rest of the way, doing the same on your way home. Not only will this help your overall health, but it is so great to clear your mind before and after a busy day, also helping your mental health. 

So, say you usually choose Knightsbridge parking, instead park slightly further out and then walk in from there. Same goes with the tube. Even if you only add 10 minutes to your journey each way, when you’re doing this twice a day a few days a week, it will really add up! Give this a go and you will soon feel the benefits, both physically and mentally, which is so important when you’re staying behind a desk for the majority of the day. Get ready to feel great when you’re getting into and leaving work from now on.
