The idea that the fashion industry is one of the most wasteful sectors of the global economy is known now. Three out of every five fashion items obtain each year, totalling more than 100 billion, are dispose of in landfills. Fast fashion and luxury firms are frequently in the forefront of the dreadful waste output.

Nevertheless, as the ethical and sustainable fashion movement picks up steam, some luxury firms are assiduously working to change the situation for the better.

24 fashion houses and textile manufacturers signed the "Fashion Pact" at the 2019 G7 Conference in France, including opulent luxury brands like Burberry, Chanel, and Ralph Lauren.

Despite appearing to be merely a signatory, the "Fashion Pact" is a historically unknown action that has the potential to change the wasteful practices of the fashion industry.

The future of environmentally friendly luxury is plant-based material.

What is the concept of "plant-based luxury"?

Nowadays, becoming green is a new luxury rather than simply a choice. Several of luxury apparel companies, like Loro Piana, Dior, and Valentino, are utilizing bio-fibre to produce exquisite garments. Mega-mogul of Italian wool, Loro Piana, has turned to plant-based materials using responsibly obtained raw materials to create some of the best fabrics in the world.

The same goes for Valentino, a premium brand from Rome that creates ethereal-looking women's purses using 55% recycled paper. Additionally, Chanel has started employing plant-based caps for its high-end scents, so it is not far behind. Nike has partnered with Launch Fabrics' bio couture initiative to supply bio-based materials with the acceleration wheel. This step is in order to improve the circular economy in the fashion industry
