8858634083?profile=originalThe winter is finally coming to a close and, although it's hardly warming up yet, the promise of brighter skies means it's almost time to work the sunglasses again. Last year it was all about cat eye sunnies, round frames and Wayfarers, but what are the top trends for this year's spring and summer?

Well, all of the above will feature heavily again this year, but there are a few new trends you might want to look at before you commit to your next pair of sunnies. So here are the hottest looks we've been seeing on the catwalk so far.

Bright sunglasses

It's going to be a bright summer this year, whatever the weather, because the sunglasses for 2015 are as loud as we've ever seen them. Bright, colourful sunnies will be everywhere this year and you'll see plenty of loud patterns in the mix too. Coloured lenses are on the rise and frames will be making a statement as well, with bold colours and extravagant patterns galore.

Classic white frames

Loud doesn't work with every look and there's a minimal alternative this year in classic white frames. Expect plenty of contrast between thick white frames and dark lenses, making all the bold impact you need, but with a more refined approach.

Oversized sunnies

Thick frames have been in for years now, but it's time to welcome oversized sunglasses to the women's collection. They already feature in the spring 2015 collection for some of the biggest designers in the industry, so you can expect to see this extravagantly feminine look catch on throughout the year.

70s return, 60s still in

The 60s look is still going strong this year but we're also jumping ahead a decade to ad some 70s flair to the wardrobe this spring - and sunglasses are the ultimate retro accessory. So you can expect plenty of browns and tortoise shell patterns with a few contemporary twists.

Oval and square lenses

Joining the cat eye and round sunglasses trend this year will be oval and square lenses; which just about completes the geometric collection of shapes you learn in primary school (triangles next?). It's a future retro thing though and you'll see these shapes combined with all the other sunglasses trends for 2015 - especially 60s and 70s designs.

2014 trends still going strong this year

A number of the trends from the last few years will carry over into 2015 and we've already mentioned the cat eye and round lenses, which still seem to be going strong. The famous Wayfarers look from Ray Ban is another trend that probably won't fade out for quite some time. While it'll be interesting to see if wooden frames really take off this year, after a promising start to 2014.

Some special mentions

A couple of other trends to keep an eye out for are glittery frames and semi-rimless sunglasses. Plus the ombre effect lenses never seem to be far from the top trends list and maybe 2015 will finally be their year. And, of course, there's always room for a few surprises - which always makes for an interesting spring and summer collection.
