Recap: LA Fashion Meetup

FashionLuvr.com & I hosted the first Los Angeles Fashion Meetup in August. It was an amazing success. There were 25 of us, enjoying fine wine (thank you 55 degree Wine for being our host for the evening), cheese and crackers, just getting to know each other. Everyone present contributed to an amazing evening. The fashion industry as it relates to the fair city of Angels always seems to be in a constant state of change and growth. There’s a lot happening in the industry overall: ever changing economic climates, print publications downsizing, shifts in consumer spending habits and social technologies impacting the way brands market their products online. The reason I started the Los Angeles Fashion Meetup group was due to a few factors. The Wall Street Journal wrote an article on how LA fashion designers wanted to save LA Fashion Week. I realized that as a city (Los Angeles), an industry (fashion) and individuals (designers, bloggers) we’re trying to connect – but there’s fragmentation. I wholeheartedly believe that LA tech groups, fashion business associations and event groups need to combine efforts and leverage each others’ strengths to build a solid foundation for the fashion industry in Los Angeles to further grow and develop. With such a small, but meaningful success, the LA Fashion Meetup is going to continue. We’ll update you on our next meeting – sometime in September – in a short bit. Until then, join the conversation on our group.Get up to date on fashion events at FashionablyMarketing.Me.
