Cynthia & Xiao showed easy-to-wear womenswear featuring bold graphics and edgy knitwear, ffiXXed Studios presented arty statement pieces in warm hues, and id’s knitwear mixed romantic and street styles when Hong Kong designers took to the catwalk at Paris Fashion Week.

They were among eight emerging city brands afforded a showcase for their fashions in the French capital by the Fashion Farm Foundation – the others were Berayah, HANG, Methodology, kenaxleung and Vanessa Tao for a catwalk show and a one-day showroom event.

We caught up with Edith Law, chairwoman of the charitable foundation, who explained what it takes for designers to get its support. “Talent, first and foremost, and a willingness to engage in a business model that has a future,” she said. “The brands we showcase in Paris have all proven themselves before: they’ve been on the market for three to four seasons, have stockists and have had press publications and editorials in magazines.”
