Friday July 27th, 2012 Syndee and I broadcasted LIVE once again on Iconici Radio! Every week we choose a "Iconic One of the Week" this week I chose the always amazing and beautiful Tyra Banks! Make sure to check out the show and subscribe so that you don't miss our picks for the "Iconic One of the Week" every week!

I chose Tyra Banks for so many reasons, not just for her modeling career, but for the person she is! Today she is an American Super Model and a Media Personality. She was born on December 4th, 1973, in Inglewood, CA. She first became famous as a model appearing twice on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and working for Victoria's Secret as one of the original Angel's.

At the age of 15, Tyra started modeling. She was turned down by six agencies before she was signed on by Elite Mode Management, at the age of 16. I love the fact that no matter how many times she was turned down, she never gave up. Though I could never imagine why she was ever turned down, today she is one of the most known super models in America!
Her first runway season was in 1991, at Paris Fashion Week. She was the first African American Woman to be featured on the covers of GQ and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, along with being the first African American Woman chosen to be on the cover of Victoria's Secret catalog! She was an Angel for Victoria's Secret from 1997-2005.

She has been featured in America's Next Top Model, Higher Learning, Life-Size, Britain's Next Top Model, Coyote Ugly and more! She has written a couple books, along with recording her first single in 2004 called "Shake Ya Body"!

She has also been in several video's, which include Michael Jackson's "Black or White", Tina Turner's "Love Thing", Mobb Deep's "Trife Life", George Michael's "Too Funky", and Lionel Richie's "Don't Wanna Lose You". Kobe Bryant (NBA player) and Tyra released a single together called "K.O.B.E." and performed it on NBA TV. She also has a single on the Disney soundtrack for Life-Size!

Tyra is a huge inspiration for me and many, many other people! What I love about her most is her value's. She is currently standing alongside Vogue and their stance to change the Ultra Thin Body Image, by providing a healthier environment for model's. This includes mentoring programs, healthier foods, and placing rules on who they will work with.

She also started The TZONE Foundation back in 1999. It used to be a camp for young girls to teach and inspire them to be strong individuals and follow their dreams! Today it is no longer a camp, but it still remains true to it's cause. Currently, TZONE is in the process of opening a permanent residence. The new center will consist of mentoring programs, career development workshops, experiential learning opportunities, financial literacy initiatives and community-wide events. Her encouragement and dedication for these young girls has changed so many lives!

Tyra Banks Keeps It Iconic Everyday!!
